				 where do you jack up the car 
 hi all looking under the car, was wondering where do you place the jack to jack the car up  where do you recomend to place the jack and jack stands?
 its a superformance cobra

 I went out and got a 4 X 6 piece of wood about a couple of feet wide. I padded it, and place it under the frame (front or rear) and lift one end or the other.

 I believe the Superformance manual addresses the jacking point. The front jacking point is middle of the front frame rail. You will see a small tie down tab there. I slide a floor jack in from the front at an angle. If you go in directly from the front the oil  cooler gets in the way. I put jack stands under the frame rails near the front wheels. 
 
When you lower the car, let it down slow. If the car comes down hard the body could bounce on the jack handle.
 
Same deal at the back.

 As Jack said, page 32 of the owners manual shows you where to place the jack.  Of course, its on the frame.  They go on to say "The front transverse frame member is preferable for jacking the front.  The rear-most transverse tube is the best point for jacking the rear.  In each case, place the jack close to the tie-down eyes. "
 
Suggest you go to the Second Strike site and buy a paper copy, or download the huge PDF copy and print it yourself.  I suggest getting a printed copy.  Its got a ton of good info.

 I also recommend getting a pair of low profile ramps.  I usually drive up the ramp forward then jack up the rear.  The front is quite low, you would need a low profile jack.  As WTM suggested get on SCOF ASAP.  Great source of info.

Especially if one slips and the other does not while driving up the ramp.  I bought a low profile jack from Sears (about $120).  It works, but you really have to watch the low parts of the car when trying to get the jack under the cross members.  I found a really nice looking low profile jack that I would buy if my Sears jack crapped out ....

Jack stands should be placed under the frame (see page 32 in owner's manual).

 When jacking the rear, watch out for the fuel pump.  It sits right back there by the rear frame rail and you want to make sure you're on the frame and not the pump.
 I got some rubber tubing, sliced it down the side, and wrapped the jack handle with it so I don't scratch the paint while jacking.

 At the frame by each wheel well. 
Use a low jack like one from a Dodge Neon.

 I always jack from the side right at the front opening of the doors. The main frame rail has a weld there where it changes direction and angles towards the front. 
 Jack one side and put jack stands under it. Then I jack the other side up and put the jack stands there.
