I agree Great buy, BUT, if one could get a roller for $35K and install a roush for $14 and tko 600 and misc parts for $3.5K and be out the door for $49K I would think it is as good as deal and all brand spanking new. The one on ebay was powered by 385hp engine with 13K and a 3550. I feel the fair price for that car should have been $36-39K if the paint was excellent.

I agree, and those Chevy 427 stickers on the cleaner probably hurt the price too.

A very good deal for someone.

I did a quick scan of AutoTrader, Kijiji and a few other sources, and here's the list of SPFs currently for sale up here.
  • $67,500 - 2002MY, solid back, 392 (351W), Brampton ON
  • $69,795 - unknown MY, blue w/white, 393 (351W), Surrey BC

  • $95,000 - 2008MY, midnight blue w/grey, 408R (351W) with EFI, Calgary AB
  • $114,728 - 2005MY, titanium w/black, 427R (351W) with EFI, Barrie ON

Default Time for an update...

I'm still keeping track of Superformance MkIII roadsters listed on Club Cobra and Cobra Country, and figured it might be time to update this thread.

To date I have tracked 216 SPFs for sale (mainly private listings, not dealers). The average asking price across all 216 cars was $52,935 USD. Here are the average asking prices broken down by model year:

1995 - $40,496
1996 - $41,500
1997 - $44,633
1998 - $46,498
1999 - $45,332
2000 - $49,667
2001 - $46,471
2002 - $49,037
2003 - $48,941
2004 - $50,742
2005 - $57,743
2006 - $61,726
2007 - $60,986
2008 - $53,370
2009 - $71,560
2010 - $71,500
2011 - n/a
n/a - $54,125

The greatest number of cars were 2005 models (39), followed by 2000 models (28), then 2006s (20), 2004s (19) and 2002s (18).

I think SPF's are a great,.... cobra.

40-55k is fair, and no more.

$70,000,.....are you kidding me !

Save a bit more and get a Shelby or Kirkham.

You ought to see that $70k one.

A Blackout beauty with carbon fibre stripes. The Roush engine has $1000 valve covers and much more.

That price is in line with what he has in it.

I've also been trying to track how long each car was on the market, but it isn't easy as this information is not always available.

But, of the 118 cars I've been able to identify as sold, the average time on the market was 111 days.

Perhaps GFC affected, thus the outlier?

I realize this is a very old thread, but the recent thread about Hillbank pricing got me thinking that I should probably update it, once again.

To date I have tracked 428 SPFs for sale (mainly private listings, not dealers). The average asking price across all 428 cars was $56,744 USD. Here are the average asking prices broken down by model year:

1994 - n/a
1995 - $40,496
1996 - $52,257
1997 - $44,289
1998 - $45,543
1999 - $47,326
2000 - $51,273
2001 - $49,769
2002 - $52,600
2003 - $55,709
2004 - $54,701
2005 - $58,925
2006 - $63,342
2007 - $65,912
2008 - $61,195
2009 - $72,283
2010 - $68,783
2011 - $76,950
2012 - $84,888
2013 - $84,466
2014 - n/a
n/a - $56,167
The greatest number of cars were 2005 models (66), followed by 2000 models (49), then 2002s (47), 2006s (41) and 2004s (37).

Not true. A "Cobra" of eligible, verifiable vintage IS importable. Early SPFs are eligible for import and registration in Canada. A business associate has an early SPF with a 427 available in Ontario now. It was imported LEGALLY and approved by TC and Canada Customs. Attempting to import a 2010 built car that is registered as a "1965" will not fly and those guys at the boarder are not stupid.

The "ban" is on newer builds, "kit cars" (NOT "starter kits") and those who try to circumvent the Candaian regulations.

If you are in Canada and interested in the Red 427 SPF there, contact me. Or if you want to purchase a LEGAL "starter kit" car I can put you in contact with the person who knows how to do it right.
