MSD and Smiths Tach

I know there have been threads on this issue, What I need to know is, are the Smiths tach's on the Superformance cars out there working correctly? My spf 901 has a newer tach w/ several wires coming out the back of the gauge w/ MSD digital 6 plus ignition control box. What do I need to insure accurate operation, if anything? Thanx
