Default Rear Spring Setup

Hope you guys can help...

I am going to replace my rear (Jag) springs and shocks for better handling, ride etc and I heard that some peole have set their suspension using only 2 springs/shocks instead of the usual 4.

Obviously, the spring rates need to be doubled..

Is there any problem with this setup?..for example extra twist on control arms?.. mountings..

If this setup is Ok..then should the setup up be on rear or front of control arm..

Any help appreciated

Regards

Moondog

MOONDOG,

HAVING SEEN THIS SET UP ON A PYTHON AND HAVING NUMEROUS PEOPLE VIEW IT, EVERYONE CAME TO THE SAME CONCLUSION THAT IT JUST DOESN'T WORK.
SOME OF THESE PEOPLE HAVE DESIGN AND TOURING CAR EXPERIENCE AND BELIEVE IT WOULD SUFFICE BUT IDEALLY THE ORIGINAL SETUP IS THE OPTIMUM.
MOVING THE COILOVER FROM A VERTICAL POSITION ALONE DECREASES ITS EFFECTIVENESS,PERSONALLY I BELIEVE RE-MOVING ONE SHOCKER AND HAVING IT MOUNTED OUT SIDE OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE DOG BONE CAN'T BE GOOD!!
YES IT WILL WORK BUT THE QUESTION IS AS YOU ASKED HOW WELL ?AND WHAT FORCES WILL IT TRANSMIT INTO OTHER AREAS OF THE REAR-END, PERHAPS YOU SHOULD PUT THE QUESTION TO SOMEBODY AT A PLACE LIKE CWI,THESE GUYS CERTAINLY KNOW PERFORMANCE JAG REARS.

Default Thanks OZ

Thankyou for your comments..I think you are right..The consensus seems to be to retain the original setup.
Well, looks like 4 new springs now...

cheers
