Dipstick popping up

Surely bending the dipstick itself would result in false readings as you would be raising the end of it higher in the oil pan?

This would mean you would be using more oil to hit the 'FULL' level.

I have never had that problem but have seen several others who have and various solutions. The easiest seemed to be get another dipstick with just a bit smaller cap on top or to crimp the cap on the one you have so it fastens better. Rick's idea of the fuel line should work as that would put a little rubber on the outside of the tube for it to fit over. I wouldn't bend it.

Do you really think an 1/8" difference on the reading is a problem? I don't add oil by the tablespoon to keep it right on the full mark.

Totally agree that 1/8" isnt a problem (although I dont see any reference to 1/8" in the earlier post). I was diplomatically trying to say that bending things to keep them in place maybe isn't the preferred route.
