Default Help with FFR

JodyMC:

There are a number of us in Ft. Worth that built FFRs. As suggested, just start another post and I would be happy to respond.

Meridian, TX. Trip Plans

Okay I did some driving and planning today for the Saturday trip to Meridian, TX.

We can meet at J.J. Mochas Coffee Shop at 108 S. Main St., Burleson, TX. (Old Historic Downtown Burleson)

http://jjmochas.com/

Plan to arrive at J.J. Mochas at 7:30 A.M.

It’s a nice little local coffee shop and there should be plenty of parking that early in the morning. Saturday morning will be a little chilly, so it will be a good spot for you guys from N. Dallas / Plano area to warm up a little.

Getting to J.J. Mochas should be pretty easy. If coming from the DFW area, come to Burleson on I-35W.

South on I-35W to Renfro St. EXIT.
Right (West) on Renfro St. Stay on Renfro St. for a few blocks and cross some RR tracks.
Immediately after crossing the tracks turn Left (South) on Main St. and J.J. Mochas is immediately to your right.

At 8:00 A.M. we need to leave J.J. Mochas and head to Meridian, TX. The trip to Meridian, TX. should take a little over an hour.

** Driving Directions to Meridian**

I was going to take some more remote roads to Meridian, but I didn’t find anything I liked for Cobras, due to being too bumpy or gravel covered roads. The following route is a nice easy route that turns very scenic during the last half of the trip.

Leave J.J. Mochas and head South on I-35W to Hwy. 917 Exit
Turn right (West) on Hwy. 917 to Hwy. 174 (Joshua, TX.)
Turn left (South) on Hwy. 174 to Hwy. 67 (Cleburne, TX.)
Turn right (West) on Hwy. 67 to Hwy. 144 (Glenrose, TX.)
Turn left (South) on Hwy. 144 to MERIDIAN, TX.

This should put us into Meridian, TX. by 9:15 A.M. The cars have to be checked into the car show by 10:30 A.M. and there is a parade that we can apparently drive in, which starts at 10 A.M.

I have been unable to find anything called Bosque Bottoms on Mapquest or Google, so unless someone can tell me EXACTLY where the car show is suppose to be at, we will just have to wing it when we get to town. This is apparently a big deal in Meridian, so it should be pretty easy to find. While I was in Meridian today two different people came up to me and asked if I was going to bring the Cobra back on Saturday for the parade/car show.

See you there!

PPW-W 045 Bosque Bottoms
Site open for day use only.
From the intersection of SR 6 and SR 22 in Meridian go north on SR 22 for 0.4 miles to the entrance to Bosque Bottoms on the right.

Home to some of the world’s best barbeque, each year this grassy field on the banks of the Bosque River hosts the National Championship Barbeque Cookoff. Although the fields of Bosque Bottoms are covered by barbeque cookers and consumers each August, the rest of the year the area is left to the birds. The vast open grassy areas host Scissor-tailed Flycatchers, Eastern Bluebirds, Lark Sparrows and Dickcissels. Look to the woodlands along the river for a different suite of birds, including Red-bellied Woodpecker, Great-crested Flycatcher and Indigo Bunting. In spring the area is ablaze with wildflowers and their attendant butterflies.

I just noticed that Court was having some of you guys meet at 8AM up in Grapevine. That might be cutting it close if you guys are wanting to find the place, get registered and drive in the parade at 10 A.M., but I don't know..

If you don't want to stop in Burleson and just want to head straight to Meridian, then we can adjust the times.. I also don't know for sure if the group is wanting to drive in the parade, or just go to the car show by 10:30 AM..

Let me know..

Well I don't know.. At the Hwy. 6 intersection, Hwy 22 runs SW or SE...

but like I said, it shouldn't be very hard to find either way..

Stoney FFR,

Burleson is fine with me, maybe not my neighbors but we should all meet in one place.I can be there at 7:30 you guys drive over east all the time.

You make the decision and post it; what ever you decide we will do.

So I guess 8 am breakfast is out. We can still meet in Grapevine and cruise down together. I am fine with getting there early, I need to be back in Keller before 5 though, there is a local Halloween car show I am in. Grapevine to Burleson should be about 45 minutes.

Hey all, I am out. Cody has a 8:00am soccer game and Micheal has a 9:30 soccer game, of course they are at different fields across town. So I am booked all morning.

I am out this week. I spent Sunday-Thrusday with the Flu and still feel like hammered dog sh*t. Just going to rest this weekend and do nothing.

Thanks Gary. I came home and took a nice long nap. The weather coming home was GREAT! Looking forward to some more cruises soon. I like your idea of a cruise up to the NW towards Possum Kingdom someday. There's some great roads up there!
