Up for a casual Dallas brunch?
Sorry for the short notice but I'll be in town on Saturday morning the 25th buying Gary S.'s trailer and I'd love to see some of the Dallas gang. Anybody want to do breakfast/brunch somewhere? I don't know where Gary lives yet but I'd be willing to drive a little ways.
Thanks,
Charmer

Hey Q!
Great. Just found out that Gary lives up in Plano. Where you want to meet? Is Champs close?

I am just north of Plano. What time are you talking about?
Anyone know of a good breakfast/brunch place in Plano? What about you Gary? What is out around your place?

What do you guys have a taste for?
I live at Parker and the Dallas Tollway so there are some resturants right near, Gazzebo burger joint, TexMex, Razzoos, Baker Bros, Joes Pizza, or we could buzz down the Tollway and meet at Champs (10 mins) and you guys with Cobras could come out!

Stretch, did you get it???
Stretch,
I am going to rearrange my TERRIBLY busy schedule & meet you- at Gary's, breakfast, lunch, whatever you want to do. How did your trip to finally lay eyes on your brand new COBRA go? When do you anticipate taking delivery? Shoot, I would hope you are at least going to be bringing one picture, of maybe 108(3rolls x 36exposures). When are you making the drive up- Friday or Saturday morning, & when are you going back home?
Details, details.......Come on Stretch, give it up as inquiring minds want to know!!!
I'll see you when you get here.
John R.
Oh, yeah, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think we have a plan!! Gary, do we need to get a head count to get the Champs guys to save us some of those " Special Cobra Reserved Parking places"?
Yep, I like this idea!

Y'all mind if I crash this gathering? You don't know me (I don't think), Stretch, but I've never known a time with these guys that I would have wanted to miss out on.
Thanks,

Sorry Stretch...can't make it...about that time I should be on the 11th hole at White Bluff @ Lake Whitney...a little family reunion weekend. So, were you able to make it over to New Orleans to check out your SPF? I am heading over to Gadsden on the 28th to check on my car and visit with the Weavers. The Unique should be in my garage by Oct. 1.
You guys have fun and I will see you at Owens on Sept. 1st.

Wow,
You sure know how to make guy feel welcome Gary's plan sounds great! Can't wait to see you all this weekend!
Jay...I know, I've been inexcusably absent from my TCC family. You guys are my second family and I feel badly about it. I've just been spending all my free time with my other family - trying to get used to being a single dad.
John - I wish you could have been there. My knees went weak, my heart nearly stopped....the only thing working were my tear ducts!! Sitting there on the floor in Doug's shop, it hit me like a train.....my dream is actually going to happen!!! I can't wait for everyone to see it. It should be ready Labor Day weekend.
See you Saturday at 11:30

Stretch, I know the feeling!!!
Stretch,
I understand!! I vividly remember the very first time Jr. & I laid eyes on my(our) car at the New Orleans airport. WHOAHHHH!!!
Is Doug going to deliver the car, or you going to take the "new & EXTREMELY COOL" trailer down & bring that baby home, or are you going to do what I did- fly down & DRIVE that baby home??
Whatever, don't forget to bring the pictures with you this weekend, & we'll see you Saturday, big fella'.
Cheers,
John Russell

Unique Specs
Charmer - here are the details - Unique 427 deluxe pallet, which basically means all the hard stuff done. I will have the car painted here in Dallas and know it will be silver. Still pondering something safe and known like SPF Frost Titanium (Lamborgini color) or go with something a little more "out there" for a Cobra like the Audi TT silver. The Audi color looks almost like aluminum it is so bright. Oh yeah - black stripe.
Drivetrain is coming from Bill Parnham at Southern - 396 stroker (455HP) with Tremac 3550 and the Unique Jag IRS. Southern just made it too easy...they built the entire set up and will deliver it to Gadsden to be dropped in prior to shipment to Dallas. Don't have all the specs with me on pistons, cam, rods, etc. Wheels/tires are Compomotive black powder coat centers and BFG T/A's also shipped to Unique and mounted for transport.
Driver will be a grey headed - balding 51 year old with a grin from ear to ear - the only weak part of the whole deal.

Hey John,
That's a good question. I'm really tempted to fly down and drive it home. What a great way to break the engine in. I'll probably take the trailer down though.
I was thinking about hauling it straight to Dallas on Saturday, spending the night, and seeing if anyone wanted to come see it on Sunday morning. Yikes, that would be two weekends in a row that you poor people would have to put up with me!
I'd then drive back on Sunday afternoon cause I've got two little guys in Austin that are waiting for a ride! Monday (Labor Day), we're thinking about having a home coming party in Austin. Ren Man and Gregg Herdlitchka are both taking delivery that weekend as well so we're going to try and kill three birds with one party!
Of course, it all depends on the car being ready by Saturday morning. If they take delivery of the engine by Friday, that only gives Doug and crew 7 days to get it put together.
I'll let you know middle of next week what my plans are for that weekend.
This Friday, I'm bringing the boys and staying with a friend in Plano. I should be getting in around 7 pm, in time for dinner. I'll let you know.
Yeeee Hawww,
Charmer

Sounds like quite a car, Dick.
I was so close to going with silver or Titanium. My vote is for the Audi TT silver! It will make all your chrome parts seem that much brighter and the black will be more of a contrast. Just my opinion.
Best of luck with finishing the build Aren't these cars GREAT?!!
No problem on this weekend. I'm actually thinking about trailering the new car in my new trailer (from Gary) from New Orleans straight to Dallas on Labor Day weekend. You guys have been so influential in my Cobra that I want the Dallas crowd to see it as soon as it's in my possesion. I'm sure we'll make some plans and post them for all to see. Hope to see you then!
