Default Florida Trip!

Okay, well I guess I'm all about the spur of the moment kind of trips. I'm all packed and leaving at 5AM for Palm Beach
Gardens, FL. for the Reptile Round Up.

http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/show...19#post1083619

I don't have to be back home until Nov. 14th, so I will have a few days to tour S. Florida after the Round Up is over
on Sunday.

I'll be driving the Roadster, no trailer or transport involved! I want to get to Palm Beach Gardens by 6:30PM on Friday, so
I have a couple of 600+ miles days ahead of me. Thankfully the weather is now looking better. I had originally been
thinking about leaving on Monday, but the weather has been nasty for the past couple of days..

Packed and ready to go!

I'll be posting photos and details about my trip here from time to time!

Wow!
I hope you have a good coat, gloves, and a wooly hat for tomorrow morning!
That's going to be an epic journey. Hopefully you won't catch up with the weather that just left here.

Have fun and keep us updated on your progress and adventures.

Joe,
I wish I was going with you. This kind of trips are the most memorable of all. Maybe you
will meet another Cobra along the way.

Have a blast and be safe.

Joe,

You need to get off I-10 when you get to Hwy 331 in Alabama and go north for about 40 miles or so and visit with Wayne. Look at your map....Enterprise is where he is.

You would enjoy seeing whatever toys is in the shop and there are generally some nice toys.

Wish I could be on the road with you.

Have a safe trip.

Almost made it halfway today.. I thought I was closer, but the GPS time coupled with the time change has me messed up. I've got 2 hrs. more to drive than I thought! The day started out at about 50 degrees, but warmed nicely. Sunny, clear skies the entire way. There were quiet a few characters out on the freeways today. While moving down the freeway doing about 70 MPH one guy pulled up next to me and rolled down his window. He then held up his cell phone and was letting whoever he was talking to, hear my car. Not leaving well enough alone, I then dropped it down into 3rd gear (2.73 gears) and let him really hear the car. haha..

I look pissed in the photo, but was really happy, just a little cool..

Crossing the Mississippi River at Baton Rouge

Atchafalaya River Basin. Thousands of years ago this area WAS part of the Gulf of Mexico. Mississippi River silt filled in this area, so now we have land/swamp..

I'm now sitting in a hotel room at the Beau Rivage Hotel/Casino in Biloxi, MS. The valet guys let me park the Roadster on the valet parking level, back in the corner all by itself, overlooking the Gulf of Mexico.

Looking at the weather for tomorrow, it looks like I'll be slithering into Palm Beach, FL. mid afternoon tomorrow, just as the low pressure moves off to the North! Time to go cover the car, lose or /make a little money in the casino and get something cool to drink!

Update: 3 free beers while playing video poker & won $18.00.. Don't get any better than free beer after drviing all day! Tomorrow starts at 4:45 AM! G-Nite!

Joe;
On your return trip consider driving across Alligator Alley to Naples. The trip is incredible but, watch out for the Pyhon's they have been known to eat the alligators. Naples is a paradise, lot's of Cobras and great owners. A small shop in Naples is where Carroll Shelby's 427 SC promotion Cobra was restored and later sold for 3.5 million. Two Ritz Carlton's, the worlds largest private porsche collection. Where a car show will produce 60 or more ferrari's, trophy wives drive around BMW Z8's. This is Deeper South Cobra Club territory, come see us. thatbluetruck@aol.com

OMG! You are making very jealous. I put the Cobra away on October 22 and probably will not even be able to consider driving it again until mid to late April. Maybe when I retire I can spend the winter in some of the southern states. Guess for now I have to keep earning the money so that day will come. Enjoy your road trip, I will be following your trip and wiping my lip the entire time!

Well guys I made it to Palm Beach Gardens, FL. yesterday at about 5PM. These Deep South Cobra Club guys and gals really know how to show a Texas CC guy a great time.

If you ever get to go to this museum, I highly recommend it! It was really a neat place.

After getting to Palm Beach Gardens, FL. I had a few bugs to get off of the car.

Yesterday I spent the day at the Kennedy Space Center. I learned everything and more than I ever wanted to know about the U.S. Space Program. I would love to go back and watch a Space Shuttle launch. There's only two, possibly three left, so I doubt I will get to experience that.

Right now I'm relaxing in Daytona Beach, FL. Found a nice place on the ocean. I love the sound of the waves crashing on the beach..

Also had to stop by the world famous Ron Jon Surf Shop in Cocoa Beach and get the photo and t-shirt!
