Default Austin's October meeting

Well guys, looks like we will be meeting at a restaurant somewhere. As much as I would like to have all of you over, I need more time to work out some bumps.
Stretch - now that you have your car, what weekend will you definitely be available?
Greg - any news on delivery of your car, we can always trailer it to the meet if your so inclined?
Osmar - Have you taken delivery of your car yet?

I am thinking of a late afternoon meeting, any suggestions?

How about the new URCooks on 290 between William Cannon and MOPAC. We ate there with the Hill Country Street Rod Club a few weeks ago. Good food, plenty of parking. Management roped off the parking area, and give us one free drink per car owner (you bought the first drink).

Another place is where we had the first TCC Annual Spring Meet at the County Line BBQ on 2222 and 360. Plenty of parking centrally located for all Austin members.

Salt Lick is another place to cruise to. I haven't been there in several years. Can't speak for the parking.

Are we going to visit any car shows afterwards? I usually hang out at the Oak Hill car show. (It was great to see 5 Cobras lined up in a row.)

Anyone else got suggestions to throw into the hat.

The UR cooks sounds appealing. I will drive by there today on my way to play golf in Burnet (today is play day) and check it out. Going to the car show is why I wanted to have it later in the afternoon, besides when the sun begins to go down is prime cruising time.

Back at cha later.

Unhappy Long Story!

Barry,

No the car won't be available. LONG STORY and I do not want to get my blood pressure up at the moment.

I am looking for a place that we could cruise too for the meal, a place where we can keep an eye on the cars while we eat. I looked into the Chillis in Marble Falls, problem is that they have no windows facing the parking lot. Marble Falls would be a good place to go to because we could begin from north Austin, come down 183 to 1431 and then on to Marble Falls. 1431 would be a beautiful cruise through the hill country, winding roads and scenery. Then from Marble Falls we would take 281 to Hwy 71 and on in to Austin at Oak Hill. Total driving time to and from Marble Falls about 2 hours.

I have a proposed route and now all I have to do is find a restaurant that would suit our needs. Unless you guys have any objections to driving to Marble Falls for dinner I will keep looking there.

Obviously the goal is to get as many cars to show as possible and I don't want to exclude anyone because they may not want to drive their car that far for whatever reason, so speak now or forever hold your piece!

Stretch, what weekends did you say you are available? I did not write them down.

Question

Barry; Which weekend are you planning for the monthly meet? The second or third weekend in October?

Prospective date: Saturday the 20th or possibly the 27th.

I drove out to Marble Falls today and it looks like we will be meeting at Chillis on the River. They have a deck overlooking the river and the weather should be great for dinning outside.

The plan: Agree on a meeting point in north Austin so that we can caravan out to Marble Falls from there. Trying to give the north Austin guys a break since we mostly go south. Have dinner at Chillis or where ever and then take 281 to Hwy 71 and on into south Austin to the car show at Albertsons. As I mentioned above, the drive is about 1 hour each way. With this cooler weather I figure you can handle it.

I need to know three things:
(1) How concerned are you guys about having your cars in view while eating? This will determine if we go with plan A or plan B.
(2) Is this location acceptable? If not speak up and I will find someplace closer, not a problem!
(3) Give me a head count on the folks planning to show. Include spouses and kids.

Let me hear from you!

Kathy and I are in! Marbel Falls is a nice cruise. We have eaten at Chillis many times. FYI, the parking lot is always full because there are several restaurants there.

My FFR might not make it to Marbel Falls, I got a front end clunking sound and we're working on it. We suspect suspension or shocks. In either case we will be there.

Here are the official details:
Date: Saturday the 27th.
Destination: Chillis in Marble Falls
Meeting place location: Denny's on 183 north and 620. I believe the Denny's is one block north of 620 on 183. Hope I got that right!
Time: 3pm at Denny's
We will leave from there and cruise to Chillis. I am alloting 2 hours at the restaurant and targeting arriving at Oak Hill at 7pm.

I hope this gives everyone enough time to get their cars running!

Lets put on a show!!!

ED: Sorry to hear you won't be able to make it.
Dave: Can we help? Either way, with or without the snake.
Stretch: Lets hear from you. Inquiring minds want to know!
D: Sound off!
Greg: What's that you say?
Gerhardt: Look forward to seeing you and the FFR
Richard: What's up?

And the rest of you, can't remember everyone's names, lets hear from you. The more of you that post your affirmative responses on this sight, the more it encourages others to join us.

Well I fixed my front end clunking sound, it was my coil-over shocks that needed tightened (adjusted). I cruised around tonight, love that cool weather. Too bad I can't make it on the 27th for the cruise to Marbel Falls. We'll do it next month.

PS, lets try to keep the meets on the second or third Saturdays of the month.

I wonder if we could do breakfast or lunch at Marbel Falls, instead of the late afternoon and evening? The weather is cooling down. If so we might get more responses. I for one could make the early cruise to Marbel Falls because we have a evening engagement. Lets hear from the other Austin members!
