Question Texas Cobra Club - Austin - Memory Test?

The Origin Roof picture from the Inaugural Texas Cobra Club Austin Event has been the wallpaper for my home computer monitor for several years now. I know the owners of several of the Founding Cobra’s, but not all. Ed’s car is in there somewhere (although I don’t think he was the owner at that time), Brezinski, Morris, etc.?? One of the red cars belongs to Burk Rosenthal from Ft. Worth, but I believe that was the last time we saw him. There are a total of 16 Cobra’s in the picture – nine on the left – Tom’s car at the apex and then six more on the right. Who can help fill in the gaps??

Click on this link to see the big picture:

#1 Paul Cass - Viking Blue - Lone Star #50
#2 Terry Tilton - Blue w/white stripe - FFR #98
#3 Gary Sharapata - Blue w/white stripe - SPF
#4 Jay Nordstrum - Blue w/silver stripe - Classic Roadsters
#5 Pat McWorter - Red w/white stripe - Shamrock
#6 Bob Brezinski - Blue w/white stripe ERA
#7 Jim Woodard - Black - Lone Star #66
#8 Rob Roberston - Blue - ERA
#9 Sean Kelley - Blue w/silver stripe FFR
#10 Tom Meadows - Rubarb w/white stripe - ERA
#11 Devin Martin - Blue w/white stripe - FFR
#12 Burk Rosental - Red w/white stripe - Everett Morrison
#13
#14 John Russell - Blue w/white stripe yellow fender stripe - SPF
#15 Gary Morris - Blue w/white stripe - ERA
#16 Tom Canfield - Blue w/white stripe - Classic Roadster

This was the old days when blue was an acceptable color!! Help me out TCC historians!!

My blue FFR was previously owned by Mike Schriber.

My FFR has black bumper jacks, sidepipes, and rollbar.

I believe my FFR is #9. (I can just make out the two chrome hood latch pins.)

Cars #6 thru #8 have chrome rollbars.

WAS MINE,,,BLUE CLASSIC ROADSTER WITH SILVER WHITE STRIPES. OYSTER LEATHER WITH HEADRESTS.

I THINK THE BLUE WITH THE NUMBERS ON THE RIGHT WAS TERRY TILTON'S FFR BLOWN 302. ONE OF THE RED ONES MAY HAVE BEEN B.J. GREEN. I WILL KEEP LOOKING AND SEARCHING THE OLD MEMORY BANKS BUT IT AIN'T EASY AT THIS OLD AGE.

JAY

OOPS I JUST READ IT AGAIN. IT WOULD HELP IF I HAD A BETTER PICTURE INSTEAD OF JUST THE BACKGROUND FOR THE WEB SITE.

Wink AFTER FURTHER REVIEW

I THINK THE #9 CAR, THE DARK BLUE WITH NO STRIPES IS A CLASSIC ROADSTER THAT BELONGS TO ONE OF THE HOUSTON GUYS. HE DROVE IT THERE FROM HOUSTON IN THE RAIN. I CAN'T REMEMBER THE NAME BUT I DO REMEMBER HIS FACE AND THAT I ASKED DENNIS ABOUT HIM IN LOCKHART AT TONY'S. HE HAD A LEG INJURY AND HAD SURGERY ONIT RECENTLY.

DENNIS GIVE ME A HAND HERE?

My car is second from the end on the left side.

One of the cars there--either the second car on the right or the end car on the left (sorry for the confusion, but it was very similar to Gary Morris'...)--was driven up from San Antonio by Rob Robertson. It was subsequently sold to another guy from San Antonio named Jeff Anderson, who still owns it. I have tried to get him active in this forum but no go. It is an ERA but I don't know the number.

I think one of the red cars was a "Shamrock Cobra". I recall the unusual name and badges. I also seem to recall the owner was from the D-FW area, but that's about it.

That eggplant-colored car in the center was the one dragging its sidepipe around all day, wasn't it?

Bob

The blue Classic from Houston was Tom Canfield. Better known to some of us as "rain man"

hey dick
didn't we have a roll sheet for everyone that was there? i know i signed in with stretch. he may still have the sheet and then we can maybe place cobra and driver. ed, i think the 9th car is the guy from houston-if its a classic roadster type. on a side note, my fia is in pieces as i decided to freshen up the engine and body. this lousy weather isn't helping matters. paint booth this weekend and engine rebuild goes in next week-weather permitting. see everyone in a few weeks.
paul
ps tom, mine is the first one #50.

Lightbulb Ping

Something in my mind just clicked on - I believe the red Shamrock Cobra belonged to Pat McWorter from Beeville. His name is no longer on the membership roll - must have dropped off in past couple of years. Does this ring a bell with anyone?

Lightbulb Dick........

good recall. Beeville is definetely correct. I can't remember the name, so McWorter is probably right.

Talking You are correct about Beeville!!

Dick, You are correct about the Beeville car. I also believe the third blue car on the left is Gary Sharapatas blown 351( with Paul Cass being #1), which makes G.S. #3.
Like Gary Morris, I have made 'um all in old #586, and will make one more.
John Russell & #14 in the picture, next to Morris.

Paul & Dick;

Are you positive the #9 car is Tom Canfield's and not Mike Scriber's FFR.

I blew up the photo and the #9 car seems to have two chrome hood latch pins, and a tall black roll bar. This fits my car description.

(Not many cobras have hood latch pins in this photo.)

Default Dick, I think Burk R. is car #5

Dick,
I think Burk & Julie Rosenthal's car is the first red car- By Jay's car, which is #5. I remember meeting then in the Home Depot parking lot in Cleburne... They had just returned from their Honey Moon in Hawaii at 7:00am that morning.
What a rush down memory lane this is!!

You guys are going to force me to break out my video from this event. I think I taped a little bit of each car as they were parked before we left to eat at the County Line, and may have taped while this picture was being shot. I'll review it and see what details I can fill in--

Question Still a few gaps and vague memories

I received an e-mail from Burk and he seemed to remember that his car was on the right side. Ed - could your car be on the right side - #13 with the 99 racing # on it? Bob I have the same tape at home, but since you shot it your memory may be more dependable. Also, I think the cars had a sheet on the windshield or on the passenger seat to identify owner and car.

Talking Dang, you guys are GOOD!!

Whoah,
I had forgotten about the window sheet we had filled out the first year Dick.
Also, looking at a tape to jog the
memory is a novel thought.

Default It's Official!

Dick; I talked to Mike and he told me that he did not go back to Origin after the County Line for the group photo. So my FFR is not in the photo.
