tennis, cars, and where did the summer go
hey guys
ok, i finally have a chance to sit down and check club cobra. can't believe the summer is gone. here's what i've been up to since my so called retirement. up at 7 and home by 8 or 9. in between i teach tennis to about 100 people, and work on restoring 2 cars. when i can i try to run a little, go to therapy for my neck-still has a ways to go before i can do what i want, work out, do tennis drills with a friend of mine, see my wife ocasionally, and travel to see my son and daughter play tennis tournaments. i'm trying to set aside a couple of hours in the middle of the day to rest my neck. started the summer with a call from a marlon cook to repair his wrecked cobra. turns out he wanted to have his insurance company total the car out and i got caught in the middle. without going into a lot of detail, the matter was finally resolved after a lot of discussion with the insurance company. took over 4 weeks before they finally paid for most of the work that we did before it was totaled out. he lied to me saying that he wanted it fixed while behind my back he was discussing with a supervisor to total the car. watch out for this guy. he conned the insurance company and me. found a 66 gt mustang convertible for sale that belonged to a friend of mine and while it was in really good shape, it needed detailing. after about 4 weeks it was ready and i gave it to my wife for our 36th anniversary. found a 65 ford-you'll have to wait to see what kind- i decided to restore and keep for a daily driver. its at the paint shop right now. should come out this coming week. a friend who knew that i had retired from the school system asked me if i would be interested in finishing his 67 shelby gt-500 fastback. since i wasn't building anything at the time i said yes. turns out it needs a total restoration. almost finished with installing the suspension and then its off to the paint shop. i hope to have my 65 finished by the end of september and the shelby by the end of october. those that make it down to my event will get to see all of the cars. whew! thats why i haven't been visiting club cobra or for that matter much of anything else. maybe things will slow down here soon. anyway, hope everyone is doing fine. the details for the cobra by the bay event will be posted next week. look forward to seeing ya'll next time out. have a great weekend.
