I think Next year let these guys find the perfect place . They should know the criteria by now .It would so much easier on you and the others that are involved in this great event ....
Their are nice roads to Cruz in the Elgin area and we could rent out the banquet room at the hotel room for some live music ,Food ,and hold our annual meeting of the minds other than the parking lot. there are so many things we can do RATHER than running all over the place PRESSED FOR TIME .
I really don't think its the place or the rought I THINK COBRA PEOPLE WANT TO HAVE SOMETHING ELSE TO DO : DANCING ,WASHERS , ANY THING LIKE THAT ... Some one had a starting tree that was A GREAT IDEA .
Also some of the wife's like to get together and go Shopping ect .
Kids like to swim and ect.

Gents and Ladies...if I may...
From an outsider - at least one not from Texas - may I add something...?
I've organized and run several events while I was active in Porsche Club. Believe me...we're picky about our Cobras, true dat, but NO ONE is more pickier than Porsche owners. The Number One issue most event attendees complain about is parking lots and security issues. The Marriott simply has a huge parking lot that works well. Couple that with our own onsite security, and it's the perfect place for this event. I'm not crazy about the construction, either, but careful attention to mapping out how to get to/from the Marriott can address this issue in a fairly simple manner.
If it's true this should be the last year for all this construction, then I think one year of inconvience is worth the wait...in my opinion, anyway. I plan on being there in 2007...but with a Margarita machine all ready to go when I arrive. All I need is electricity, which I can supply with my Honda generator, and some water for the mix...easy enough to obtain.
I'm looking forward to another tailgate party...last year's was outstanding...!
But...one way or the other...please post the dates and location as soon as you can. It's not even December yet, and I'm already looking forward to another crazee weekend with you deviates...!
Oh....and we GOT to go back to the Oasis again...! Loved their margaritas, food, and the view was spectacular...!

Ed,
I agree, the Marriott is a bargain. But if you compare a resort with beach, pool, tennis, golf AND nice rooms (that aren't decorated with late 70's bamboo) then I think they could and would charge a premium.
For $90/night at a hotel (not a resort) I do expect a lot more from the room and restaurant.
Tony,
What the heck is Washers? I swear I remember more of last year than I get credit for and I'm so not remembering that. I do remember a little dancing. Oh, wait, that might have been spinning. Never mind.

Washers are like Horseshoes except with a nice box cut at a angle with a single hole or multiple holes anyway it fun the drunker you get the harder the game gets
Colleen
Well Well Well you know I did have fun watching you race without your shoes you did nothing wrong and you were very funny, its good to let loose every now or then or every other day
I just think that this form should have started something like ------
I wonder if we could talk bought changing the 2008 Cobra Meet at our 2007 meet .
These people speaking will already have places cked out , roads, restraints and ect.... ect ...
Dee and others already have done lots of work getting things together for 2007 Cobra Meet .
So why not start a special Committee if you don't want it to be at the same place and all the people that have ideas get together and find a great place where everyone can be happy
Looking thru my eyes you are living a dream most people would love ...
owning some of the most awesome cars in the world
Cobras, Shelby's , GT40, so on .
I have had the pleasure to work on several of the nicest cars around and year after year . I would love to have my Cobra their but I still come out to meet the best people around .

Tony,
We did start with the suggestions a little late in the game for this year. Y'all are stealthy down there with the planning. It's like Santa with his elves on Christmas.
I did suggest we have a committee but that suggestion has been lost in the debate about the hotel. Which is what seems to happen when suggestions come in at the same time the location debate starts. I think I'll start a different thread about the non-hotel/cruise stuff.

Thanks for the leg work.
Colleen,
Tried to respond to your PM but my computer crashed when I tried to send it. I will look for your email when I get home tonight.
