Default Oh, please, please, please...

Okay, I know I don't have one yet, but I really want to see as many as possible prior to making a decision (especially a Hurricane (hint hint)).

Has anyone seen our BEAUTIFUL courthouse down here in Waxahachie? The perfect backdrop for that lovely "Cobra and Texas, what could be better" picture you always wanted?

Any number of restaurants down here, but more important, lots of sweet country backroads to "unwind" on. There are many more reasons, but I will let you dwell on these for a moment

C'mon guys (and gals), when was the last time you went South?

I would have no problem with it, since I have always wanted to see "downtown" Waxahachie.

BUT I know a lot of folks have weekend family obligations that make it tough to get away on Saturday for very long.

I think it would be a good location for bit longer drive depending on the weather that day.

I think Waxahachie would be great and the courthouse would be a cool backdrop. Could we leave the cars at the courthouse and walk to a near by restaurant?

John D - Did you say you were driving down to Austin on Friday? Right now there at least four cars driving down and I think we need to caravan for safety sake

Smile Hmmm...lets see...

There is parking all around the courthouse, but I am not sure what it would take to "block off" some spots. I can look into it if there is interest.

As for restaurants within walking distance, 2 come to mind.

Courthouse cafe is catty corner across the street. Brand new bar and grill type place, and you could see the cars from the restaurant (provided they were parked on the south side of the courthouse). I would say they are good, but not in the same league as were we were last week.

An older restaurant is called 1879 Chisolm trail. It is directly across the street from the courthouse (also south side). Been a long time since I ate there, but think along the line of Mom & Pop restaurant. Nothing fancy, but very (stereo)typical Texas fare.

I believe the Rogers Hotel (also a historic landmark, and thought to be the first building built in Waxahachie) has a restaurant, but I am not sure.

Walking distance, but not really within sight of the cars is the College Street Pub. The name says it all, and the food is pretty good.

I am sure there is more, and if there is interest, I would be happy to by your "man on the ground" to do the research.
