Default Tulsa Teasers

I arrived about 2 pm on Thurs. A number of folks ran at Hallet today and I will wait for one of them to comment on what broke The Sonic Cruise was huge, mainly every manner of Mustang. SAI was on the scene with their various GT500 flavors. Also, many local modifiers, dealers, etc. A few original Cobras, including the Essex Wire FIA. Here is a photo of some of us. Me and JRoss' cars are gonna be on a documentary TV show. More details when I know them ..

Great time again this year even with the rain on Friday, but today (Saturday) was perfect at the drag strip. Sunny and 82 degrees.......

From the one who broke (his Mustang).

After the ECR race 3 weeks ago, I pulled out 1/2 of the chassis wiring and patched the harness to operate the required equipment. Then replaced the MSD box, coil and distributor. Put it on the track Thursday and it still didn't live up to the hype. A fellow racer let me borrow a Walt Haynes carburetor, and PRESTO, it ran better than ever.

Ran a few more times and qualified 14th out of 30 (not bad for a novice), while posting my best lap time ever at Hallett. But as vintage cars go, the last run of the day, the oil temp jumped over 300 degrees and oil pressure dropped to 10 psi. So the weekend was over. Didn't even get to run the Vintage Exhibition Race Friday. The main reason I traveled 300 miles.

So back in the trailer, home Friday night, and she's back on the lift. Probably spun an bearing. (sound familiar?)

I'll keep ya posted.

Steve, it was great to see you again this year. It was very unfortunate that the car broke down. You were kickin some tail out there in the qualifying!!! Thanks for the gas by the way and sorry that I missed you leaving. Larry R. has your gas tank and the money for the gas. Maybe next year????

Sammy, that beast of yours sounds awesome going around the track. I really enjoyed watching it coming down those straights and then down shifting. It was an incredible rumble...

See you all again soon, James

SSSSSSSSammy...You the man! I got some pics of your silver red streak tracking down the straights into the b!tch!!!

Miles, you look absolutely pure VINTAGE with the graphics on your SPF.

What a great week-end! Great Cars, Great Friends, Great Tracking, Saturday...Great Weather, Great tail gate parties, Grate Vendors and sponsors, Great burn-outs at 12:30 am on Sun. morning...hope you can make bail...

Kristen made the show,
Bernie & Hershall all the way from Australia/Arizona,
Clois needing to practice "equanimity" concerning his electrical issues,
Dean, don't ever let her in your RCR GT 40 ever again, she needs to be fan belted...
James with his heat...1 min. 31 sec. lap,
Steve with your "that's racing problamos" that seem to be plaguing "08" lately and we know you'll get them sorted out because "you're hot" according to Sarah's friends,
John Dean with his shorty pipes worth 50 more horse power that blew away all competition down the straights..."these street Goodyears suck in the corners"...the rest of the Dean Clan, Ed and Steve,
Gary Sharapopo FORD Genius, Matt & David, the Comercial Real estate Gurus and Heritage GT 40 Bud's,
Jackie's choc. chip to die for cookies,
Gary Morris's little brown bag of libation,
And all of the staff that worked their ever lovin' a$$'s off,

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How about a Margarteater...Hey ' you want salt on your rim? Thanks Lew and Patty...

How about some breaking into the backwards b!tch...check out the pitch on Big Red!!!

Carroll Shelby said "We're going to kick Camero's A$$" in '09 and like "Arnold" "I'll be back!"

Hope you all enjoy the post and I hope I didn't miss anyone.

Cheers,

All right Larry, I will work on my equanimity (composure) but could you please put in a word or two for me with those fricken grimlins to leave me alone for awhile. Or if they must hassle me tell them to do it before I pay $150 for a session I only get to run for 2twominutes. Don't get me wrong or anything because I can accept rain and other happenings but there is such a thing as the STRAW that broke the camels back!

I had a great time being around everyone even though my only good days on the track were Thursday and a few wet laps on Friday. I enjoyed everyones encouragement and hlep when I needed it. Jackie's cookies were wonderful Larry.

Except for the gremlins showing up for several folks, Saturday was great.....good weather and a thinned out crowd. Thanks Jus Bit for loaning me the extra helmet! My 77 year old Dad had a great time riding with one of the experienced track drivers in the GT500....they passed about everybody on a group II run (kinda not fair huh).

Yes, he ran a 1:29 with traffic and couldn't hone the injectors in right.
All was well until he took his wife for a ride and they lost all power in turn 6. Seeing that car being towed back was sad.
I think I have some pics. I'll post when I get home.

Miles, Great shots...Thanks for sharing. Kristen, can't wait to see your pics. Did Bernie and Hershall make it to DFW or did they head straight for LCS?
