What to purchase--want a Cobra
Okay,
Have a friend that wants a turn key, fast, well built, excellent handling, excellent stopping, fast shifting, reliable, beautiful, no hassel, get in and go Cobra.
What do we look for and what should we pay?
Don't care if engine is Ford or Chevy, just want tremendous HP with suspension that matches, well sorted out vehicle.
Thanks,
george

A guy I work with told me about this Craigslist ad:
http://dallas.craigslist.org/ftw/ctd/1340440797.html
I know NOTHING about the above ad, car or seller.
But I bet somebody in here might.

there is a pecking order of manufacturers in terms of quality. I'll leave it to others more expert to list it.
does your friend care about resale value, customer service, etc.

Anyone thinking of buying a Cobra replica or kit should do some homework, and given that you used terms like "turn-key" and "well sorted out," I would advise you to talk to a few builders that offer turn-key cars. This would include Keith Craft, Kirkham etc. Your local Superformance and Backdraft dealers might be worth talking to as well. For someone new to this sport, the cars may all look the same. They absolutely are not. And the most expensive Cobra does not always mean you get all of what was on your laundry list above.

This Superformance in the classified section has a big HP NASCAR motor. Price is right and he wants to move it. I'm not into green or dual roll bars but it's got the big motor!!

Check with James Yale here in Houston. Radical Roadsters of Texas. I believe he has one or two new backdrafts ready to go already. With Keith craft engines in them.

Maybe you could list the "pecking order" as no one else has offered?
Resale value is not as important as getting a reliable car at a decent price. Customer service/warrenty would be nice.
Car's home will be San Antonio, Texas.

Will pay reasonable costs for inspections, and a finder's fee for the right car.

What about an FFR (Factory Five Racing) Spec Racer? However, I don't know if there's a turn key available.
Uh, oh, I feel Patrick's presence.

Yes, I'm hovering on this thread. Seriously though, a FFR spec car sounds perfect for these guys. That's exactly what I would recommend.
