Default Burning Desire

So since the the purchase of my cobra, I have had this desire for the "Billboard look" from Good Year. As some of you know I just completed a motor build. The tires currently on it are junk, tires just don't stick to begin with and now they are really bad with the additional power.

So I began to look into these, and I was completely crushed when I discovered they only come in 15 inch and my rear tires are 17 inch. To be exact a 275/40/17. I really like the tire print look on our cars.

Unless I decide to change my Halibrand wheels to a 15inch the only other option is changing tire manufacture

I did notice Hoosier makes a good street tire with their logo but I am crushed it's not a Goodyear eagle look. I suppose I could buy a set of Goodyear tires and a spray templet but not sure I am sold on that.

What are you fellas doing who have similar rim size to mine?

Goodyear "Billboard" tires have the look that they do because they are a bias ply tire on a 15" wheel. The sidewalls are relatively tall and they have a somewhat bulged out profile. You will never achieve the "Billboard Look" with radial tires and certainly not with 17" wheels. I don't know if you are aware of it, but Goodyear Billboards are not a DOT approved tire. Some folks don't care about that and some do.

Here is another possibility to consider ..... Also Tredwear makes custom templates that you could use on any size tire but getting a billboard look would really require a 15" wheel. The above poster is correct that GY Billboards definitely have a particular sidewall look.

Don't be so sure you want actual BillBoards. "All that glitters is not gold". I hated them and replaced them after 400 miles.
