I had the same problem, hard to shift into second gear...it was hitting the tunnel. Later I broke the shifter off ....due to a crappy weld, rewelded the thing and its all good now.

My 600 does not want to take 2nd if reved very high, seems like need' s syncro's, 7500 mi.?

TKOs by nature will not shift easily at high rpms....

The effort needed to swap gears will get easier as the transmission breaks in, but they are not high rev transmissions unless you have some mods done.

But aren't they marketed as road race tranny's ?

No...

One version of the TKO 600 is marketed with "road race" gear ratios. It's just better matched to engines with larger cams, extremely high rearend ratios, etc.

There has to be some significant work done to the TKOs for them to shift easily over 6000. We call it the "Sure Shift" upgrade. It includes disassembling the transmission, modifying the cones on the gears, installing better shift forks, different blocking rings, blueprinting endplays, etc.
