Default Transmission Info ?

Hello Everyone ,

I am new here and come here seeking some trans information . I have a 4 speed top loader trans and I am trying to find out what it came out of . There are several places on the web and not all the info is the same . I have looked here for info . http://www.5speeds.com/toploader.html#tag , http://www.davidkeetoploaders.com/ , http://www.woodyg.com/fairlane/finfo/toploader5.html . The tag on the trans I have says HEH CC . Two of the three places say it is a 1965 AC Cobra 427 close ratio trans . Is this info correct ? If anyone has more info on this topic please let me know . Thank you .

Frank

You went to David's site and could not identify a toploader????? Hmmm......

May I suggest an email to David asking for information. He is the top guy for Toploaders.

390 galaxie wide ratio

http://www.davidkeetoploaders.com/idchart1.htm

I believe all 427 cobra's came with big input splines. I would guess that a galaxie 390 tranny would be small spline. Is it big or small input ?

Hello Trularin ,

I did look at David's site but the info there is not the same as the other sites . The reason I came here is to find out the true car this trans came out of .

Hello Anthony ,

Can you give me a way to find out if it is a big or small input splines shaft .

Thank you
Frank

The small input shaft is 1 1/8" in diameter, while the big input shaft is 1 3/8".

Some of the early 427 cobra's came with big input and small output trannys, so if the rear spline count is 28, it could be either. Big output spline count is 31.
