Default 5-speed toploader

good day,

I thought I asked before but can't find it:

is there a 5-speed toploader, that bolts right into the place of the 4-speed?

I think it's called a tremec.

Default tremec

good day,

and will it fit into the original chassis without changing the trans mount and yoke?

The Tremec will easily fit, but the mounts will be different as well as (i'm pretty sure) the yoke.

good morning,

I see. The other challenge is the narrow tailpiece of the toploader whichis very close to the handbrake bracket of original cars.
I wonder if the Tremec would clear that bracket.

Does Kirkham or Shelby offer a 5-speed?

I shell ask them.

The cross member needs to be notched to make room for the 5th OD gear housing. I'm not sure on the yoke, if it's 28 spline standard, and 31 for the TKO, or the total tranny length, impacting length of driveshaft.

I believe as long as you use the short shaft kit you will not have to notch the cross member. It is a 26 spline input shaft and a 31 spline output shaft. jimig@standardtransmission.com
