I wouldn't use the adapter. To me, it's just something else to cause a misalignment. If you receive the shortened shaft with the bearing already pressed on it, it literally takes 10 minutes to swap and doesn't require any rocket science. I did it on mine and I'm glad I did.
If you call Bruce Couture at Modern Driveline, you can swap your input shaft for one that's ready to go. Mine was new, so he gave me a sweet deal on a shortened one.
