Default DD Cobra is going for inspection tomorrow...

Let see if the DD will be up to the task. I've got two problems with the build: 1- No wiper kit was provided with the kit so I put a manual wiper, why shed $600.00 if I won't use them, that doesn't mean it shouldn't have come with the "Complete kit". My mechanic told me that he would accept it. It Should have been part of the " complete kit", if i'm wrong let me know.

2- The hand brake system sucks. Short Lockar handle is very hard to pull and those superCoupe calipers suck too. The cable is pushing on the caliper spring instead of pulling, weirdest thing I've seen, can't understand how it works. Anybody have a replacement suggestion. That will only prevent the car from rolling down my driveway,I hope the mechanic just look at it and says " I like your chromed handbrake handle",that thing is there just for show basically.
Anyway 4 years came down to this moment so wish me luck, the rest of the car looks pretty good minus a few little technical things that could be improved but this is it,after there will be the insurance run around, peace out !

The guy from Georgetown !

Good luck Michel. Please post some photos of the finished car; love to see how it turned out.

If it's any consolation, the parking brake on my Superformance isn't very effective either. The problem is with the design of the part used, and no amount of adjustment seems to improve it much. I leave the car in gear when parked (but I do that with all my manual-equipped cars).

Default It's done !

I PASSED !
The inspection was kind of a joke, they were all astonished and excited to have a Cobra in the garage that I passed with flying colors. It was carried on the ground because they couldn'd get it on the lift, car is too low, ooops not my problem. The guys were really cool though. My biggest worry was the handbrake but while we were attempting to climb the ramp, the car was on a slight slope so the mechanic asked me to pull the handbrake so I put the car in neutral, pull the hand brake and the car didn't move. I knew that under no load it would hold the car,he (the mschanic) grabbed the wheel and tried to turn it and it wouldn't turn ( I knew it wouldn't) so he was happy and I was more because from there I knew it was over and I'd pass the safety check.
I'm going back monday for the alignment but I am very happy that i've got my safety check paper it was all about that crucial stage.
My next challenge is to find insurance now but the guys from the Ontario Cobra Club are working on the issue and they are looking to find a company that will insure kit cars without any hassle like most of the guys go through.
I will try to post pictures but it's not painted yet,I covered my tranny cover and this week end I'm making some door panels. I tried to post pictures before but no success,I can do it on the FFR site but having problems on this one,i will try again. Now let's go celebrate, cheers !

Michel

Default Sit down and have a BEER!!!

Good Stuff it feels GREAT when you pass another milestone. I think that the insurance issue is not as bad as when I did it so call ZHER and see what they can do for you. You will have to have an appraisal done so there is a value on what they will insure.
Cheers Greg

Thanks Steve and Greg, what a relief that was indeed, now to the insurance step. My car is not painted and the carpet needs to be installed so I wonder what kind of appraisal he can do. Not sure what to do about the carpet,I don't want the interior to look like **** because I cheaped out, this is what you see the most after the exterior so I might get it done by a pro. I want my car to be insured this winter at least for fire and theft.
I'm going for alignment Monday, will go order my personalized plate also and after that will go to the State Farm office and see what they have to say. Will also call an appraiser, have to find one around here, that won't be a problem.
Greg I hope you solve your snag. Will keep in touch, cheers guys !

Wink Salut Rene !

Michel
