Default Weber IDA Shaft Bearing upgrade.

I had the day off today and just wanted a wind down day to tinker in the garage. I have been wanting to do this for quite a while. I bought some double shielded ball bearings sometime ago from a Weber source in Italy. The suggestion was given to me by the staff at Pierce Manifolds. As they explained, IDA's on V8application have high vacuum and under deceleration will eventually begin to pull air through the Bearings on the ends of the shafts and throw the A/F ratio off and cause irregular idle and all kinds of gremlins. I got two of the carbs completed and discovered the auxillary venturies in one of the carbs were a little loose, which explains a transition problem I have been experiencing lately. Relaxing day with some gentle rain falling while I attacked an upgrade I have been putting off. Good day.

Sorry, not buying this one. I'v been fooled a few times in the past, and this isn't going to be one of them. Clearly, it never rains in California. I know I'v heard that many times before.

I'm with you Rick. Your words transported me to that place where the simple pleasure and sense of accomplishment of a job well done is worth all the world's riches.

Didn't know that about the webers.... Are yours Spanish or Italian?

- Allen.

Rick, I'm all ears (eyeballs actually) on your shielded shaft bearing swap out and curious source for them. Any pictures? I was thinking of replacing my bearing seals which are on order. Good project for this rainy day.
Cheers,
~Earl J

NorCal rains, SoCal don't. I'm always in a damn rush when I'm working on my Webers. I was resetting my air correctors a couple days ago in a relaxed manner. Much more enjoyable! Where are the pics Rick?
