Hey John,
I might have to take you up on your offer. If I take my helmet, tools, spare parts, cleaning products, bags, food, maybe the top, car cover, I might be full. Greg was talking about taking some golf clubs and putting a lugage rack on his car. I might have to get one too.LOL

Bill,
I have been by those scales a bunch of times, but I can't remember how much room is there. I can say if we mess with there traffic flow, they won't like it. If you know who is on duty and ask, I'll bet they would love to see the cars there as long as they are all legal.:rolleyes:

Hi Scott - Gregg;

I will have plenty of space on the F250 truck to load golf bags, tools, tops whatever. Make your drive comfortable. Open offer.

I suggest do not park near CHP scales.
Take Treat exit onto the frontage road, plenty of parking before we again enter again which is very convenient. Even if we park past the freeway entry it only means driving around the block and then entering. You will see the tall Embassy Suites hotel behind the CHP truck scales.

I will be leaving from El Dorado Hills Thursday morning also. I would like to hook up with the folsom/El Dorado Hills group also.
I don't know if my wife will be riding in the cobra with me or driving up in a more comfortable quieter car with more luggage space.

Steve

Thanks John for the offer. Will let you know.

Sac to Sparks

Who's going up Friday morning from Sacramento?
We had planned on leaving mid-morning and just going straight up I-80, but we're open to anything.

Steve Courtwright, Jim Larson, Phong, what are you guys planning to do?

breadcrumb 04-26-2006 01:17 AM

Jim,

Karin and myelf are planing to drive up at around noon on Friday. We would go up 50 to South Lake and than to Carson City and to Reno. About 3 hours with a coffee stop. Beautiful drive, did it last year.

Jim, Me and a buddy are driving up from Cameron Park around 10:30 am Friday morning. Going up Hwy 50 , Carson City, Reno. Is there a meeting place yet for friday drivers? If not we could get a small one going. Ken Bisconti

STEVE COURTWRIG 04-26-2006 01:21 PM

Jim-larson & I are planning to go up on Thursday morning. We have no real set plan other than that. Steve

Sure - do a drive by and let us know if you think 18 vehicles including two haulers would fit north of the scales. I'm not ruling out this spot. The CHP said he doubted there was enough room for us at the scales, and recommended the Crown Plaza lot as a nearby alternative.

Last year when I went thru there, I recall that between the overpass and the scales could probably fit a dozen cars, at least. Now if there are trucks being pulled aside for CHP inspections, this may not be a good place to worm around in with all those 18 wheelers around. Comments?

Hi guys,

I am going up from Sac Thursday late am or noon.

I would be glad to tag along with Steve and Jim and any others around that time.

Hi Tom;

I checked the Crown parking off 680, its all Tow Away with a full parking lot.

Best is exit at Treat/Geary proceed across Treat with frontage road, park in front of Nextel Building and right on down the road towards the Best Buy and even the large Kohl's parking lot. We can enter 680 again just past Nextel, even if some have to circle the block, or proceed to the Monument Blvd on ramp past Kohl's.

Chevron and Shell are on Geary Rd across freeway.

John

Twallerich 04-26-2006 11:26 PM

Thanks, John -

Give me some addresses and I'll update the site for directions. I guess the CHP didn't know it was restricted parking at the Crown Plaza.:confused:

Directions;

Heading North on Hwy 680, pass Walnut Creek interchange with Hwy24, head North on Hwy 680, take Treat/Geary Exit (At CHP scales).
On Exit you can turn Left on Geary to get gas at Shell or Chevron.
On Exit do not turn left on Geary or right on Treat but cross them and stop along this frontage road infront of Nextel building.

Planning to leave the meeting place at 10am Thursday - starting the fun weekend and heading for Reno/WSCB.

John

Me and the wife will be leavingThursday am also. I have alot of camera gear to bring, so do you know if anyone in the Folsom group has a tag vehicle following.

Duane

If you have room in the trailer or truck, maybe I could drop off some luggage/gear Wed evening when I get back from Ga. I'm only about a mile or two from you.
