Default New CC member in Chicago

Hi All,

I wanted to introduce myself as I have been doing a lot of reading on this site, and finally registered. My name is Arno and am going to be building a Kirkham 427 hopefully soon. I'm actually building this for a friend of mine but I'll have a "share" of the car since I'm doing all the work I'm in Sleepy Hollow IL.

I wanted to know if there are any Kirkhams owners around Chicago? We are in the planing phase of the project, trying to decide on which options to get, and which ones are not that worth it (Billet stuff under the hood, and such).

I'm pretty excited for this project but this semi-unknown territory for me (kit building). But I am pretty mechanical overall (I have done a Z06 engine swap, a boxster engine swap, and I build and race shifter karts).

Anyways, looking forward to meeting some of you guys at future meets and to build this crazy car.

Arno

Default Hi neighbor!

Arno, I'm up in Woodstock so there's help near if you need! There's a great group of people here, and great wealth of knowledge. Both mechanical and electrical! I personally don't drive a Kirkam, but I did stay ay Holiday Inn Express!
See you at the meeting! Sten

Steno, thanks for the offer, I'm sure I will have a bunch of questions for you!

Pilotdad, garage crawl sounds like a blast I'll even throw in free rides in my shifter kart if you can fit in my seat (pretty intense like a cobra).
By the way, from your screenname, are you a pilot for a living? I fly for the airlines myself, that is why I could not go to the meet tonight.

Hey Jerry!

Good to see you on here. This is just another reminder of how it is such a small world

I'm in the process of stripping my Intrepid frame right now to get it re powder coated, and finishing cleaning/inspecting/replacing parts on my CR125. I actually have to go see Jim for some parts.

Have a good one.

Hey Arno...are you looking for a great powder-coater? Thjere's one in Crystal Lake. Precision Powder coating. Good, fast, and cheaper than any one else I've found. Did all the coating on my car.

No not a pilot, but a pilots dad, my son flies United reginal jets. I use to and still occationally race karts, but haven't tried a shifter. Have run 125 liquid cooled they are a blast, with a shifter it maybe a bit more intense than a Cobra!

Avmaviator - want some help? I have not bought my car yet, but thought I should learn a few ropes first.
Sure. I think it will be coming late summer, early fall if we place the order this month or next month.
