				 Help needed, trailer wise
 Hey guys and gals,
I'm looking for someone who has a trailer that I can use to transport the Kirkham to and from Detroit (two day trip). I have to bring the cobra to the engine builder to fix the issues we're having (lean condition).
Looking for something that I can pull behind a pickup (hitch not goose neck). Enclosed is best but open will work too. I can pay you for "renting" the trailer upfront.

This would be for the week of the 17th or thereafter.

 Thanks!

Thanks Jerry. i sent an email to uhaul asking them about the width of their trailer's wheel track. That might be the easiest. |

Your post about the Blackhawk outing should of asked Lee about the Uhaul traler----I have seen it a few times and seems to be pretty rock solid and stable----a little heavy for what I would want
I do know of another guy that has one---aluminum ---but I know its loaded with stuff right now as he has been moving----I will go buy in a day or so and check it out-------

I have rented at U-haul several times. Some points to consider.
 1) You want the car hauler open trailer; they do not have enclosed trailers.
 2) The car you are hauling is a Shelby Cobra 427. They will have that in the computer and will not find any replica. Or tell them it is a 65 Mustang if they cannot find the 427.
 3) When loading, suggest adding a block under the ramps to reduce the angle and crank up the front of the trailer to do the same. Then watch the license plate on the trailer, it can touch the front of the body when loading. Some of the plates are bent over, likely because others found the same risk.
 4) I could not get the U-haul straps to fit my big tires in the front, so I had to buy straps for front and back. Use “duck tape” to tie up loose straps material. I could only find 25 foot straps at the time.

 Good luck

 Lee

I have a very nice enclosed unit you can use, it is in Michigan, about 100 miles away. I am located about 15 miles east of I-94 near Benton Harbor. |

I have an open 2 axle trailer you can borrow for up to a week if needed. It has a stone shield up front for protection, and is relatively lightweight.
Only problem (for you) is that I am in Breesport, NY.

If you think this will work for you, let me know. I can take a photo of it if you would like.

Lee, thanks a lot for that information. I was on the phone with Uhaul yesterday trying to figure out if the wheel rails were wide enough for the kirkham. Didn't get an answer but from you have told me I'll just use those I think.
Terry, thank you very much for your offer. I'll keep you in mind if the Uhaul deal falls thru. I especially like the enclosed options of your trailer.

Jim, NY is a bit too far from me (Chicago) But I really appreciate your offer! Thank you. |
