An Anniversery of Sorts
Hey Everybody….
This weekend we reset the clocks. That means we trade one night with an extra hour of sleep for months of darkness. (Read that word ‘darkness’ to mean ‘COLD’.)
Coincidentally, this weekend would be the anniversary of the day I acquired the donor car for my Cobra Build.
It was Sunday morning, a lovely fall day. I was out early in my Mustang, top down and enjoying the morning.
I saw a 1992 Mustang GT Hatchback that had been rear-ended during the over night hours. I got out to investigate and saw a very clean car with only 75K miles on it. Unfortunately for someone, this car was obviously totaled. A note on the windshield – and the rest is history. I ended up purchasing my donor for $650 delivered to my garage.
Now y’all might think that was a great deal. And yea, it should have been. However, I ended up with what would be considered a non-donor build. Meaning, I never used much of that Mustang.
Okay, before anyone thinks I made a bad investment I need to tell you one more thing. I still have the Motor and Transmission etc. from that car. I am, currently cleaning up that motor and telling my wife that I plan on rebuilding it. That’s right that same donor Mustang, that same $650, will be used again -- to justify the next project to Judy.
Now the best part is she is going along with it, life is GREAT (don’t tell anyone but I will not use the motor this time around either!)
Name withheld on request (wives read these things too)
