Invitation to a Tail Gate Party at the BRIC
We would like to invite everyone (not just the Chicago area owners but everyone) to attend a tailgate party at the Bryon Redman International Challenge aka the ‘BRIC’. This innovation is to all current and former Cobra owners, builders, wanna-bees, planners and just plain interested parties. Y’all are invited to stop by any time during the day. We plan to watch the races, exchange stories, meet old friends and make new ones. We would certainly expect some Wisconsin representation; we would hope for people for Indiana & Minnesota; then, who knows how far someone might travel from a free meal.
The tailgate party will take place all day on Saturday July 15th. We will start by 9:00am for those looking for breakfast; we will continue during the mid-day hours serving lunch; and will certainly be around throughout the afternoon for anyone that wants a late lunch, a snack or just a cold drink.

For those of you that may be unfamiliar with the BRIC it is simply one of the finest vintage races in the Midwest, if not the country. The races take place in Elkhart Lake Wisconsin at the Road America Race track. Road America is truly one of the finest facilities of its kind in the area.

The admission price gives you free access to the paddock area. This is a big part of the fun; you can walk among some outstanding original racing machines. They range from great old sports cars to Formula machines to Can-Am series racers and many more. The Corvettes, Shelby’s and yes even Cobras and the GT40’s will be the real deal. Have you ever seen a Lister or an Allard or maybe 'just' an old Morgan? They will probably all be represented.

Anyone that has ever been to the BRIC says it is a day well spent and always plans to return the next year. For more information visit their web site:
	http://www.roadamerica.com/2006/races_bric.htm
Stay tuned for details as we get closer to the big day. Some of us will go up Friday night to set-up early on Saturday. We will plan a caravan from the Chicago area on Saturday morning.

We just ask for an RSVP if you plan on attending so we judge how much food & drink to secure.

Rich

				 Rich, Sounds GREAT!
 Sign me up!
I will call their office during a week day and inquire about the availability and cost of on-track camping. If YETIMAN reads this, chime on in, as we are aware that you are an old ham at this track and any info you can provide that will help make this outing more fun will be greatly appreciated. (I'll even buy you lunch!)

A superticket (weekend ticket) is required for campers.

Track touring is $75 per day and can be fun though the BRIC weekend is generally crowded for touring. |

 Rich,
I'm planning to cruise up with the club Saturday morning, July 15th, but can only stay for the day. Let me know if you need anything.

RalphI do not plan on camping………way too many undesirable creatures of the night. Rather, I plan to say over night Friday at a motel; probably in Sheboygan (sp?). Saturday morning I will drive around and get the grill started etc.

What we need to discuss is a place to set-up. The sun at Elkhart can be brutal so it may become a consideration. We need a location that is easy to find, as close to the paddock as possible, and has a good view of the track. It would be nice if there were room to park at least a few Cobras close. They will act as a bill board for people trying to find us.
So does anyone have a suggestion as to a good location?

 Rich

Some suggestions for places to gather, Looking at the track map here http://www.roadamerica.com/2006/imag...a_map_2006.pdf The area near 3A (near the Sargento Bridge) is a pretty good bet for access to the paddock, open space, and there is some shade near by. You have walking distance access to turn 3 and to view turn 8 and the carousel.

It would be a straight shot in from gate 4 (easy to find) and there is food and beverage stands at turn three and in the Carousel Campground.

Another good place where there is good viewing and an area you could stake out is near the Toyota Bridge on the inside of turn 5 & 6. There is a big hill looking down on 5, easy access to 6 and 7. It doesn't have as good a paddock access or as good a shade (there is shade, but not where you can easily view the action).

Personally I tend to park my stuff with a group of regulars on the inside of turn 6 and work from there. |

Heck yeah: I'll be dere! Wish I could meet the caravan for the trip up but we'll be flying back to Chicago on Friday so as to be here for the BRIC weekend. I plan to drive up from Sterling as early as possible on Saturday morning, stop in southern WI and pick up a friend, then head up to RA. I'd be happy to take a turn at the grill or whatever, so long as there's someone else there to chaperone Wolfie. Down at the bottom of the hill near turn 5 is a nice place but I can't recall whether you can drive that close to the paddock for the big races or not.
 Rich, That's "Sheboygan hey"

 | No you can't. You can't get a car over the Mitchell bridge at 13A without credentials. |

 Rich,
Since my car will be at Clayton's at that time I will be driving a boring car that can carry lots of stuff. Let me know what I can do to help.

Just like to say hi to you guys from the windy city and let you knowi will be attending the BRIC, as i have season tickets at RA. I live about
40 miles north of the track. Will be there Sat & Sun if i can help you guys
in any way let me know.I think the best place to set up is by the
sargento bridge between turn 3 and 5, or inside of turns 6&7. I belong
to Northwoods Shelby Club and will contact some members to see if
any of them will be going, maybe we could have a big snakefest? Was
at the June Sprints last weekend and RA did a lot of improvements at the
track. Much bigger padock area. Brand new member of Club Cobra!!

 | Hey, Brand New Member, we are not ignoring you, we are all still tired from attending the London Cobra Fest. The old guys are not used to all that partying they did while away from home.
Stick around and we'll do more posting as it gets closer to BRIC.
By the way, what's the name you're using?
Yours truly, Crash Ralph

Ralph – thanks for reminding me; but yes I did need to sober-up-- er, er -- I mean rest-up after last weekend.
The BRIC will be upon us before we know it.
I agree with the suggestions as to the best places to set-up. Somewhere along the area between turn 3 through 6. I personally like it up by the concession stand between 5 and 6. It has a good view of turn 5 and you can really see the cars coming up the hill into the next turn. However, depending on the weather that can be a very sunny area; it is also a fairly long walk if people enter the main gate then walk through the paddock area and around.

Down around the 3 through 4 areas has more parking and more shade. It is also much closer to the paddock area; where, for many, the real show takes place.
As we get closer to the date and more people weight in on this we will select an exact location.

I hope everyone realizes we are inviting the entire Cobra community from the surrounding states. We will make sure to park a few Cobras close so we are easily spotted.

 Rich

				 The Bric
Is anyone planning a meet to caravan out from the Northwest suburbs?
I get confused with roads outside of our state.
Especially when they have all those cows on the side of the road
I think it is very distracting, plus there are no street signs?
