With a 302?????

Jerry

CHRIS DAMSCH 03-13-2007 02:42 PM

I'll bite.

Is that the 302 running that time?

How much NOS, or what size blower?

I'll bet it wasn't the Cobra.

If it was, I'll take some lessons from ya.

bigiron 03-13-2007 02:58 PM

Its called the Cobra Destroyer. 2 cylinders,175 horsepower. No NOS,No Blower. We have gone as quick as 9.61sec in 1/4 mile on a good NHRA track.
The Excalibur Cobra it ain't. Under 10 sec requires a NHRA license which i have.

CHRIS DAMSCH 03-13-2007 03:05 PM

very nice. What is it a bike?

Jerry Clayton 03-13-2007 08:11 PM

Well let me recount the day at our shop---Corey is tuning the electronics on a Camaro that we built a motor for--everything went well there except the guy blew the trans on his way home

Working on Warren and Judy's car with the rear wheels off and several potential riders came by but couldn't take it out

Lowell has the rear end out of his and it was his first visit--

Ralphie drives his Red car down with the sidepipes on it, borrows some wrenches and takes off the mufflers, installs the shorty turnouts and terrorizes the neighborhood----they seem to make a tremendous difference--look for him to improve his times by a lot

About 20 minutes after he leaves, Bid Al shows up with his Blue car, again first visit, and we show him around the shop--Corey took some nice photos of Ralpies Red Snake and Big AL Snake cars

Expecting Chris in a day or so and Bob's yellow car by Friday ( Or sooner)
Maybe John Murphy FFR next week

Hopefully finish wARREN'S job up by the week end

I don't think I ever ran a 10 second run

Jerry

CHRIS DAMSCH 03-14-2007 07:10 AM

Me neither, YET.......................................

Hopefully in May

See you later today guys.

Poolw 03-14-2007 08:58 AM

Jerry, weren't all your cars faster than 10 seconds?

Jerry Clayton 03-14-2007 09:55 AM

My 59 ford wasn't. but most of the otherts were

With the warmer weather the number of people wanting to drive Warren's car is falling off--they all want to drive there own--imagine that--but Warren still wants to drive his--soon,real soon

Jerry

CHRIS DAMSCH 03-14-2007 06:52 PM

I just got back from Claytons a little while ago...

Is it done yet?
Is it done yet?
Is it done yet?

From what it sounds like I'm going to need spare underwear in the trunk at all times. Many words like freight train, pulling the skin off your face, pucker, Holy sh....,

All descriptions of the upcoming power for the blue car.

By the way, Ralph, I heard your car. You are sick........What, I can't hear anymore.

Lowell W 03-15-2007 04:08 AM

Well, I sure got the $5 tour. Very impressive. Thanks again, Jerry and Corey!

Yeah: I don't want the same trouble with my rear end that Wolfie had with his! :o

Ralph...Jeez...I thought there was a thunderstorm coming out of the east on my way home!

Chris...That 4 cylinder with the turbo is going into your car?

Lowell

CHRIS DAMSCH 03-15-2007 06:29 AM

Hey, The four cylinder is an upgrade from what I had.

jeffko 03-15-2007 08:11 PM

Sounds like we are going to have the best times at Byron yet. **)

Move over Ralphie, had the same idea. Sounds like pro stock.

CHRIS DAMSCH 03-15-2007 08:13 PM

DId you do that too Jeff?

jeffko 03-15-2007 08:27 PM

I was going to do dumps, but they hung down too low. Just flange the pipe between the the muffler and the collector and fish mouth a stainless steel elbow. Marty and Sid may remember what it sounded like the first time started.

jeffko 03-15-2007 08:36 PM

I also must say that I could not have done hardly any of my winter to-do list if it were not for Bud's generosity of offering me his shop and expertise over the last several weeks. After building some 14 experimental airplanes you gain a lot of very cool tools and experience. Put that together with a pretty salty sheet metal worker and we can do a few things. :JEKYLHYDE

FYI...look out for another fast cobra with the wrong color. Hopefully we can get enough miles on it before Byron.

He understands computers like I understand women so he will not see this, but he is a real gent (with an ever so slight ornery streak) :D

Jerry Clayton 03-16-2007 09:04 AM

Jeff

What flanges did you ise?

Lowell W 03-16-2007 02:21 PM

 I thought you had seven cylinders the last time I saw you!

Lowell

jeffko 03-17-2007 06:05 AM

I am using a home made 3 bolt so the flange would not be square.

Jerry Clayton 03-17-2007 07:31 AM

We used the V-band type clamp and rings in stainless--I welded them on the inside so it didn't effect the chrome on Ralph's pipes--turnouts we used a 4 in radius 3" ss 180 degree and cut off each side to make two pipes--
Boy were his side pipes restricted--looked like about an 1 and 1/2 pipe

Jerry

RedSnake351 03-17-2007 11:11 PM

Vrrrooooooooooooom!

I wanted to be the first one on my block with REALLY loud pipes!**)
Well since my secret is out, here is Clayton's handywork!
