OK, so after a quick CSI I think I know what happened....

here is a little back ground before I talk about my theory. My Tires are bad, these are the tires I have had on my car since it was built, six years ago. They have had countless track days on them and with that said I have worn them in places that street tires do not normally see wear.

Here is my story and I am sticking to it. The inside drivers side tire blew when I grabbed third gear along the inside side wall / tire. I found a split in the tire where it was down to the cords (shame on me). When the car spun in circles and finally backed over the center median the passenger tire was fine, no bent rim. But, the drivers side (pictured above) was already flat by the time the curb came along so the rim took the impact, not the tire.
This would also explain why the car "jumped" out so violently and I could not get it back in a straight line as I have done countless times before. I normally keep my foot in it and she comes around nicely. With one of the rear tires flat she was handling like a wet sponge and finally came around.
I knew I was on borrowed time with the tires and they were bad at Laughlin, and I did a crummy burn out at the Christmas party because I knew they were bad.

I should have just parked the car until I could get some new sneakers!

John no worries, this was not reported to the insurance company. I do my own work!
