I can see your point, e.g. forcing people to do anything seems like freedom lost.

On the other hand, those that do not have insurance at all are basically gambling with our money - we pay if they lose, we don't pay if they win - seems like a strange bet from our point of view and a good bet from their point of view. Let's face it, it's just like gambling - the odds must be in favor of the house or no gambling would take place - therefore, the house (government) needs to be paid over time - in some way - to offset "patient" bad bets - a simple way to do this with no additional expense would be to increase the payroll deduction relating to Medicare if the potential patient is not covered by insurance, possibly in addition to having patients maintain catastrophic coverage at a minimum.

There are lots of ideas out there, some good and some bad – ObamaCare is full of nothing but bad stuff.

Unfortunately, people have generally become fat and stupid within the last 20 years – electing Obama is clear evidence, but also – obesity has become the norm, diabetes is practically a pandemic in America, millions of Americans can’t even get it up (if you know what I mean – the entire nation is stressed out and millions of baby-boomers are starting to retire bringing to Medicare all kinds of medical issues and problems.

The bottomline is the fat and stupid people need to pay up. There is no free lunch.

OK,
Lets keep this on track.

It seems that everyone agrees our legislators will not read the bill before signing it. At least that seems to be the general consensus.

How can we entice (or harass) them into reading it before they sign it?

I think Mike has a good idea of everyone sending letters (e-mails) to their legislators daily to let them know we want them to read it first.

OK now it seems we are finally talking here, we are paying for those that are un-insured right now, just as with auto insurance, I have to buy a supplement to my insurance to cover those that refuse to buy their own, just to cover my butt, in health insurance there is no such option, the only reasonable alternative to this is a government run system for those people, its far cheaper and I don't much care if they don't have all the benefits that someone who pays for insurance gets, that's kind of the point you get what you pay for or not, depending on weather you are paying for your own, as it is we are still paying, it's just that we are paying for them to go to where paying customers go and they get the same treatment, only on our dime! that's why we have 20% inflation on what we pay for healthcare every year, and with as many people there are losing their insurance every day it's only going to get worse.

Listen,
I have asked three times to keep the thread on topic.

Look at the thread title and read it again.

If you have any doubt about it, then start another thread that you can monitor.

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but you are not in control here, only Jamo, ComputerWorks, possibly Brent have any control power.....therefore, if any one of the above are 'asking' you - they are playing with you, big time. Besides, isn't this the lounge - why is it necessary to keep threads on topic in the lounge?

Actually, are we now being monitored to the degree that threads not only have to be kept 'clean and in compliance with club standards' - they are now monitored so that they stay on track - in the lounge - and, you've actually been asked three separate times in the last few days to do so or, I suppose, have the thread put in the garbage bin?

I would think that whatever members want to post and discuss would be OK under any thread title - in the lounge. Isn't that like real life?

I won't waist my time with you, no matter what I say or bring to bare as facts, you will deny it!
For all those out there that are willing to do some homework on healthcare, we already run the best healthcare system in the world, and it is government run, here is a web site that talks about a book written on the subject, the book is (Best Care Anywhere) http://linuxmednews.com/index_html
I would hope that anyone serous about making the country a better place and not just for ideological reason want the country to fail, will read the book, and do your homework, this is too important to ignore, no matter what party you are in!

Jamo,

I have asked repeatedly for everyone to stay on topic and some cannot seem to follow instructions.

I feel this thread has run its course of useful life and do not want it to turn into another fight amongst the same people. It is getting old and I do not want to be responsible for this thread any longer.

Request made to close this thread.

VRM

I'm warning you...when a thread-starter is asking folks to stay on track, we will enforce his or her wishes. The following mindset may get you a suspension.

I would think that whatever members want to post and discuss would be OK under any thread title - in the lounge. Isn't that like real life?
