Most seem to forget that Carroll's first choice of engine was Chevrolet, and he went to Ford because he was turned down at Chevy...... Where would we be if the Cobra had had the engine Carroll wanted ?????

Yes, but they were 6 cylinder cars to start, and the small blocks were the only cars to hold true racing fame as the 427's never were allow to race under the FIA rules. but hey that is in the past, and unless you are lucky enough to own a true CSX car then the engne does not matter.

That's a mean looking car, I like it. By the way, I might feel lucky, especially if you run those tires, lol. Cheers.

There's plenty of us running Chevys down here in Australia. Strict emissions requirements dictate an engine in a kit car must meet the current emissions laws at time of registration. This basically restricts you to an engine which is less than 3 years old.

Lots of us are running Gen3 and Gen 4 LSx motors as they are the best bang for buck in the current crop of V8 engines.

Cheers

Why not,The FE gang complain about the 385 guys and visa versa.I originally considered a 454 Chev in mine, settled on a 385,460,glad I did, very potent chunk iron and aluminum.

My original plan was to purchase an ERA kit and put a twin turbo BB Chevy in it.

Why? I knew and liked the 427 chev. I had a few of them and knew how to make them run.

After doing more research, I decided to go with a Superformance with a 460. I had never owned a 385 series engine before, but decided I'm not to old to learn, and learn I have, and will continue to do so.

I was never a fan of the FE series engines, so for me it was not even an option. And being a BB fan, that left the 385 series as my only choice.

And before the FE folks get their knickers in a wad, I'm not saying the FE is a bad engine. It's fine. It just was not the engine for me. And I would never condem anyone's choice of engine for their Cobra. It's a personal choice.

John, I actually like the look of the 460 under the hood of the 427 style cars (not the FIAs, tho). You can certainly build them to get whatever performance it is that you want and, truthfully, most people can't tell the difference between a 385 series and an FE. It's those thimble-sized small blocks that look like they're sitting in the middle of the Grand Canyon that bug me. You're almost inclined to say "where's the rest of the engine?"

When I seen my first one I thought it was a starter motor.
