If not Halibrand....what rims do you have?
I'm not a big fan of the Halibrand wheels, but I can't find a rim I love.
Looking for ideas....

What about the FIA Wheels? Kidney Beans? Sunburst? Wire?

I really like the AR Torq Thrust II's and would have bought a set, but a deal came up on some Edelbrock 454 machined face wheels that I just had to have. They aren't made any more and are hard to find but I really like them and wish I had bought a set of 17's to go with my 15's at the time.

Torq thrust.....vintage look and you can paint the centers to match your paint if you want (i did not paint mine)

I've been reearching wheels a lot lately as I wait to pick up my kit in a couple of weeks. I've gone to more wheel sites than I can remember. What kind of look are you after - retro, original, or custom? What size (15, 17 or ?) Do they come in the right offsets for your body? It all depends on the look you want your final car to have.
Personally, I'm going custom with either a Foose or a Coddington design. I don't want to get caught trying to make my "replica" look like an "orginal" or "real" cobra.:3DSMILE:

Ditto. I have 16s on my Mustang. I considered every possible era wheel and took very little time settling on Torq Thrust D's. I went with 16's to clear some bigger disc brakes (poor thing was born with four drums, ecch!) but avoided larger sizes so as not to distort the look. I have flat billet caps on them, which is a sufficiently unusual look.
Minilite 8's were a close runner-up but the TTD's just looked right. |

I like the minilites also but they had more of a racecar look to them........i think E.T. still makes them........

Vintage Wheel Works in LA. Look like Torque Thrusts but they come in 17's and the spokes are straight, not arched, like the old American Racing mags.

What about a Salt Flat? I believe they were on some of the earlier cars. American Racing makes a nice Salt Flat wheel

They're not *quite* the right look except maybe for a racer with meatballs etc., but I've always loved the look of the original plain Centerlines.
Vintage Wheel Works made a Minilite copy a few years back in various sizes. (Looks) No, they don't have them any more but they have an 8-spoke mag. They make two variants of the TT, straight and arched spoke.
My 16-inch TTDs (Vintage 45s, curved-spoke) are from them and I'm 98% happy with them.

I seem to remember (not 100%) mine were from "Precision Engineering" correct in every way except not pin drives.Was told to stay away from pin drives on a street car.

Other than for cost reasons, and seizing up if anti-seize isn't used when they're knocked on (I can see a street car going a year or more without a wheel removal, while race/track wheels hardly spend full days installed), why? |

I wanted a modern looking wheel, since this is my interpretation of an old car. But I also wanted some old/classic flavor. I had these made by Centerline. I deep dish and polished billit wheel, reminiscent of the Shelby 10 spokes.
They come supplied with a sorta polished center cap. I finished polishing it, and applied some translucent red powdercoat.

I lobe the Torque Thrusts and Minilites are cool. I just swapped from Chrome Cobra r's to traditional Hallibrands for the original look. But everybody to their own taste.
