Shelbys will soon come into their own. They are starting to already. They are already recognized at many auctions as REAL Cobras in the continuation series.

There aren't any other Fiberglass cars that are genuine Cobras other then those from SAI and certainly none other then Shelbys that fetch high 5 figures or even into the 6 figures. That alone speaks volumes as to how the public perceives them.

The fact that no other fiberglass cars fetch those numbers is because they are not Cobras at all, just cars that look like Cobras which is only skin deep. Beyond that many are as far from a Cobra as a dune buggy without any Shelby pedigree.

Per SAAC and growing public perception while Continuation series Cobras are not original Cobras they are real/genuine Cobras none the less. The only ones here that don't seem to "get it" are interestingly enough those that don't own a Shelby. Hmmm. Funny how that works. Wonder whats motivating those opinions when the facts clearly support what I've said.

When people ask me if my Cobra is original I tell them "yes sir, absolutely, its a Continuation series Shelby Cobra, CSX 4206". True and factual.

If you want a Cobra you have only three choices: Original Series, Continuation series or a Kirkham Cobra outside of the AC variants. End of story. The rest are pretenders.

Takes care.

It has an iron side oiler block with aluminum heads. It's not a shelby block nor is it aluminum.

Ah, I see the confusion. This ad had both 6035 and 6018 in it. The text you are quoting is for 6035:

"Powered by the all aluminumn Shelby cast and built 427cid V8 side-oiler engine that produces an estimated 600hp with a 5-speed transmission, independent front and rear suspension with 4-wheel disc brakes. CSX6035 is true to the Cobra legacy."

6018 had an iron block 427 and was sold at Barret Jackson for $85k. Here is the text on that car:

"CSX6018 is fitted with every available factory option. Power is proven by the rare and period correct mid-1960's vintage Ford 427cid side-oiler V8 motor, which sports medium-riser aluminum heads and a Shelby-style side-winder intake."

Or, you can head up to Yuba City to Ken Pike's and get a little lower---depending on the paint selection and the finish.

Of course, I was quoted a show-quality job on my fiberglass 289 FIA for a whopping $38k down here in the Bay Area...

No, I'm not kidding.

You can spend a lot of money in a lot of different places when building one of these.

By the way, I didn't go for the $38k paint job...

you could put a "krylon" paint job on a CSX and still get more for it than what you would get for a Kirkham........that CSX is where the extra $$$$$ come into play.

Doesn't matter how much you pay for it, when asked if it is "real/original" you still get to say "nope"!

All I want is an immediate 7-day ban from this site if someone says "but I thought the Superformance is a Shelby, since he licensed SPF the Shelby name."

Ernie and Patrick, please, move along. Nothing to see here.

The price difference between a painted and unpainted Shelby roller was I think around $10K. They all come painted now however (glass).

Default CSX Roller Cost

I think on another discussion string, someone mentioned that there is an installation kit that sells for an additional $12k for the CSX series cars. Highly recommended for somebody who is going to do the installation of the engine and drivetrain on their own.

So, if you add this to the asking price of a roller, the real cost will be somewhere around $61k (+/-).

Effective January 1, 2010 Shelby American Inc has raised the price of their aluminum CSX cars by 10%.

That means a regular aluminum component roller is now $ 124,900.00 and a built in England (hand rolled) roller is now $ 165,000.00

Fiberglass roller cars are still $ 49,995.00 FOB Las Vegas without any options, etc.

My dealership only orders HST built fiberglass cars so I never have to get stuck in the middle of the Superformance quagmire - and HST only builds cars for Carroll -

Now, who wants to order one??!
