427 motor on ebay
just saw this 427 for sale on ebay. Not mine. Great pictures of the casing marks, cross bolts, etc.

The block has been fully sleeved back to standard bore (4.23)..... well i guess it happens to all of them eventually.

My books show a C5AE-"C", but no "G". The "C" says "1965 352 - all applications". That doesn't mean it's not a 427....who knows? The crank number indicates a steel cross-drilled 427, but not the NASCAR, or LeMans crank, which required different size rods for the larger journals. Where is the photo of the other side showing the sideoil plugs? Hey, it lLOOKS like a 427.

I wonder why the block has been O ringed? Flat top pistons, E-brock heads should give compression around 10 to 1 or so, not to much higher than that. Some stock 427's 12 or better to 1 and didn't need O ringing. Hmmmm,,,,,
I would assume it's the real deal, based on the screw in freeze plugs, cross bolts and description. $5-$6,000 is all I would pay. Myself, I'd take it down, double check everything, maybe go with a cam of MY choice, not theirs. Calculate C.R. and do what I had to do to get it at no more than 10 to 1 if it isn't.

Don't ever assume it's the "real deal" based on screw in freeze plugs & cross bolts as they are both easily added. To me it's worth the sum of it's parts (or less). I would also tear it down & double check everything. I like that it is fully sleeved. Hard to sell that to the general public but 8 sleeves is the way to go (in my opinion). Anyway, It would have to be a bargain for me to jump in. When buying an engine there is something to be said for buying from an experienced engine builder with a sterling reputation.
Anyway, Either buy it cheap or pass.

Well you have to start somewhere when considering a purchase. In this case, yes I would assume the seller's description is accurate, subject to "proof" when it comes to the money part.
Is it worth more than 5 or 6K? I'm sure it is! It would be difficult to pull all the pieces together and build it yourself for that much. But I'm not going to pay more than 5 or 6K myself because I will still take it down, maybe discard or add some pieces and all that. To me it's a nice "collection of parts" that still need assembly.
