Mag wheels would be a huge mistake for you pal, given the humidity conditions in which you live. Also, mag can oxidize under clear coats. It's just very porous.

... and don't the front ERA pin drive hubs require a slightly different backspacing as well?

There's a set of magnesium wheels from an ERA (machined fronts) for sale on CC right now. Asking price = $3,500.

And once the fronts are machined for an ERA, they are then of no use to a Kirkham or CSX car, correct?

The wheels would then need a spacer to be used.
Personally, I think the master sushi chef would cut your sushi bigger for you if you pulled up to the sushi bar with those mag wheels installed.

You're going to let ERAChas have better wheels than you? I mean he already has a better engine, so your ERA will certainly be a 2nd class citizen now.
