You did the fittings with oven cleaner. 
AeroQuip nickel are so much nicer. But hard line is MUCH, much nicer. Black fabric would be an acceptable alternative for functional aesthetics.
You still have to lose the faucet handle on the heater hose thingie.
In fact, you put it in a bag (appropriate  ) for cold weather so why not dump those JC Whitney heater hoses (and the heater)??
And the break-away TP still screams....never mind. 
Plug the intake and lose the nancy stuff-it's supposed to be a COBRA. Big hairy balls remember??

No, I don't use oven cleaner. I carefully burnish off the coating with my Dremel and a couple of stainless steel brush tools.  It comes out very nice; it's just a wee bit tedious. Easier than replacing the lines and/or fittings. I did the oil filter lines a couple of years ago... got tired... and didn't get around to the fuel lines until now. I still have a little more to do around the fuel pressure gauge, but I might take another couple of years off now. I actually like a small splash of color.

What's with the fuel line to the front carb bowl? Looks like some sort of silver hose or section of pipe on it compared to the rear one.

Yes, it's different. It used to be this until I polished off the red/blue.

That's the complete turn-key package, including the custom low-profile base, 9" K&N filter, 9" K&N Extreme top and Quik-Latch assembly. Add it all up, including the metal spinning, machining and fab of the custom base and the modification to the Extreme top (we fly-cut the recess to fit the Quick-Latch nice and flush). It's not a bad deal.

I think I'll pick up that nice K&N lid, which only comes in black, and then touch it up to it looks like unpolished aluminum. I don't need the Quick-Latch or anything else though. Want me to post pics when I do it?

my eyes well up when I see something like that, particularly if 427 fender badges on, get all excited and then lift the hood for a big disappointment, might as well be a chevy.

How do you know from lifting up the hood??? Climbing underneath maybe. And then if you have a Pond, Genesus or Shelby block or any of the other aftermarket blocks it doesn't have a lot more relationship to a FoMoCo 427 SO than a 390/410/428. At least 428s actually were delivered in Cobras originally. Besides, with the exception of a few original Shelby produced cars in the hands of members here, the rest are all replicas.

The Genesis and Pond blocks are reproductions of the original sideoiler. And I always read about CSX 3000 owners who ditched their factory 428's along the way for 427 sideoilers. 428's are like the weird uncle no one ever talks about.

Largely true and I mostly agree BUT there are a shedload of 428 Mustang National Record holders.
Of course Sheldon's was not built for that type of work.
Dry cleaners, haberdashers, oyster bar and Wendy's...

Maybe - but most 427 cars built were street models and most of them came with either 427 center oilers (at least initially) and then 428s. A 427 SO is nice for a SC replica or Competition model replica but not really what came in the largest number of 427 models originally. But hey, they are all replacement or recreation motors anyway - how many Cobras are out there with documentation showing they are still running their original Shelby delivered motor? And not many replicas for sure. LOL
