Old School 427 or Modular 5.0?

I'd like to ask all of you----just what makes you think a 427w is so much lighter than an FE????

And for ITSTOCK----if you take the 30 lbs of junk out of the trunk you would be 50/50 on weight f/r-----------so maybe you should call it bias?????????????

I agree - an FE is actually a pretty light engine for a big block. Simply put an aluminum intake on it and it's downright trim and slim.

I think those lightweigth Kirkhams are benefitting from the billet suspension and driveline parts in addition to the aluminum engine.

With me in it the car is 1242f/1367r for a 47.5/52.5 rear bias. With the junk out of the rear it would be 48.2f/51.8r bias. It doesn't make much of a difference I guess at that point.

iron block to iron block both with alumin. heads and intake, it looks like at least 140 and as much as 180 difference.
