I'm not good at posting pics but if you google ERA Cobra #677 you'll find some pics that were put up by Nick Guisto whom I bought the car from. It's guardsman blue with a 1964 427 center oiler.:)
|
You got a great car, and that car is "the one" in my mind right now (Nick knows this about me). Unfortunately, I was not in a position to buy it when he had it offered for sale. Congratulations.

Thanks for the kind words...it took a lot for me to part with my '69 Shelby which I had owned for over 22 years but this was the car that made me do it. Nick is a great guy and I consider him a real friend.

Here are a couple of pics.

Thanks so much for posting those pics!:)

WOW !
That is a really beautiful car. You are very fortunate. Enjoy ! ! ! :3DSMILE: |
I've just come across this & found it a very interesting thread. I'm doing something similar to the buck I'm building to use to make my aluminium body. I'm modifying a 427 SC shell to look like a 289 LeMans car, loads of fun :JEKYLHYDE

Looks like the right bends.
Nice bling. |
Oh and I like the valve cover badges toward the firewall. Not sure what is correct though...
|
I have old magazine articles back when the cars were new and in the pictures they took, I've seen them, mounted on the front of the valve covers, both mounted on the back and one on the front and one on the back when breathers started being used. I don't think there really is a wrong way to mount them with originality in mind.

Because of all the mods to the trunk panels to make the narrow hip the rear wiring harness wasn't installed at factory, and so snaking the wires through such a limited space,I had to cut all the ends in a different length sequence to give a taper and then re solder and shrink tube all the ends.. Just another hiccup In the meantime if you haven't seen this ERA video, take a peek and when someone asks you why you need one of these cars tell them to watch Big Muscle videohttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vVXezFglQk&sns=em

This just keeps getting better
We have a slabside cobra here at Metal-Morphous Inc that sports an origanal chrome trunk rack. While Eddie was here getting the work done to his narrow hip he got a good look at the rack and after a lot of Internet searching he determined that if he was going to have one of these racks on the truck lid of his Narrow hip cobra he was going to have to fabricate one. So he made a template of John's and has being moving forward to making a replica of it. Here's a couple of photos of the progress http://www.ffcars.com/photopost/data...m/image461.jpg http://www.ffcars.com/photopost/data...m/image462.jpg |
In making this replica of an original Amco rack I found 2 challenges. The first was to find dyes for the correct radii and the second was to find 1/2"x3/4" flat oval tubing for the 3 cross bars. Although I made it out of heavier wall tubing, the physical appearance must look exactly like an original, thus chrome steel rather than polished stainless. So far so good.

You rascals!

John I had to remove your beautiful original rack to polish your trunk so Eddie and I figured that there's no sense in just letting it stay on the shelf and collect dust until I was done:)
All kidding aside, You just can't find these little charms and if your building a street cobra it's just something you have to have. |
