Great job! Fun thread!

Those Sunbursts look great. And accurate (the lack of taper on the insides will make getting the tires on/off harder than most).
Soap up.

Here's a close up of the sunburst:eek:

Beautiful! They look great! It looks great!

Just to clarify my last post, M-m, I meant when putting the actual tires on the rims...that lack of inside taper makes the tire bead really grab. Again, soap up liberally, and keep posting!

Rodney I appreciate the advice and I already passed it on the Eddie

Yup, love the look of the Street roadster with Sunbursts. And your new Sunbursts look FANTASTIC!

Reinforces the need to keep my original Sunbursts clean and in good shape:

Keep up the great work on your narrow hip!

Cheers

It is beautiful one of my inspirational posted pictures when building our car is of an original 427 belly exhaust car. Always loved the lines of these cars, the fenders seem so much larger without the side exhaust. Who doesn't love those wheels.

Metal-morphous 02-26-2014 05:01 PM

MM is moving along on the bodywork and here's a few progress photos
The front fenders have been cut back. Like I stated earlier the early ERAs like my #148 not only had the correct shape to there front fenders but also have a beautiful 5/8 reveal so we are using them as a template.

Much better. Keep going Ron.

Metal-morphous 02-26-2014 05:21 PM

Thanks Chas,, I'm just waiting on the wheels, Eddie had to cut the back spacing 3/16, drill the holes for the pin drives and valve stems. I should have them anytime and then we will get to work on the quarters.

Wizbamsc 02-26-2014 05:42 PM

Looks good guys, when can I get a body? Phil

Metal-morphous 02-27-2014 03:16 PM

Wizbamsc Once we get the bodywork finished and in gel-coat I'm going to pull moulds from this encase we have to do another one. So order your wheels , get a body then give me a call:)

Metal-morphous 03-03-2014 08:21 PM

Here's a few more details that Eddie has been working on.
He had a friend of his machine the knobs (over 20 steps) and I did the paint work and graphics using our new graphics transfer machine. We can copy any art work and make a transfer, the detail is fantastic.

Care to guess what they are :-)

Nick......you might want to rethink that statement! Mrs. A may take issue with that action.................

NOS-EDDIE 03-04-2014 07:23 AM

The more than 20 steps is 42 for machining. The lines are crisp because of machining. The originals are Bakelite.
