I know I'm a little late on this...
Mine is a take on Jamo's. I can't really tell if part of Jamo's wire is attached to the latch or not.
I wrapped the wire around the hinge, twisted, went around the latch, twisted again and pig tailed it.
When I fill up, I can pop it off and hand it to Michelle, who already has her hand in the air waiting for the handoff.
I've been using this same wire for years. Scratches and all... 
And for those who don't think scratches are cool, the first 14 seconds of this clip pretty much sums it up.....

I remember this thread when originally posted, and I do love the look. But I do have to ask, are there really that many issues with gas cap tampering? I have no secondary gas cap on mine and to the best of my knowledge it's been safe so far.
My Cobra sees as many Wal-Mart and grocery stores as it does car shows. I've not even seen a fingerprint on the car. I guess I've been lucky

You have been lucky.
My Kirkham attracts groping hands like crazy. Light scratches to full hand prints.
The wire though is definitely more for looks in my case. But who knows? Maybe someone did try to open it.

Yes, you have been very lucky, my car always has paw prints.
rodneym, I like the way your looks, very clean, but Jamo's looks like it would actually prevent the tab from being pushed down until you slide the loop over to the right or left

My shop offers a concours reproduction of the Shelby American Inc fabricated locking ring that was used 289 competition Cobras and Daytona Coupes. After the ring is installed you can utilize a padlock to deter people from tampering with your fuel cap, just as SAI originally had done back in period only they were trying to prevent from being sabotaged.

.......the "locking ring", the fabrication utilizes "AN" hardware as per the originals.
