Gary literally (editorial committee) wrote the SPF owner's manual, and SCOF member. It's great that he checked into this thread today for both a BDR and SPF testimonial.
Is that a smartass comment directed at the potential angle of Gary's post or is that a positive comment in regards to the thread? I'm not being a jerk just can't honestly tell as I do not know the history of all the people involved

Both, actually.
From reading his past postings over the years, Gary is fine gentleman and he, along with his other editorial committee members, really did write the SCOF Owner's Manual, which is awesome. It's also wonderful that David Kirkham from Kirkham Motorsports, Jay from Vintage (BDR Dealer), Rick Muck (Mark IV from Time Machine Motorsports-SPF Dealer) and Bob Putnam from ERA post here as well. These folks are important to the Cobra hobby.
But, as I mentioned in another thread, maybe it was this one, I'm "cynical" by nature. But if you prefer "smartass", then that's fine with me too.

Well, it's either "smartass" or "dumbass." I mean, it's got to be one or the other, right? Or can you be both at the same time? That's a pretty deep question.

After reflecting on the meanings, and their relative usage, I believe they're entirely different words.
"Dumbass," at least to me, is someone who would paint their Cobra beige and install some sort of home insulation around their roll bars thinking the insulation may actually help in an accident. I think an additional example, would be someone who straps their dog into the passenger seat of a Cobra, says they're taking their furry little critter for ride, and then takes a picture of said critter in their Cobra in what appears to be a darkened garage. Eschewing actually taking a picture of said furry little critter outside on the road, possibly near a park, maybe even an oyster bar.
OTOH, a "smartass" is someone who has at least a modicum of intelligence, and uses it to pop into threads and poses what he (or she) thinks are "deep questions."
Hey, maybe you're right, you can be both at the same time.
Ah Bill, you have a way of summing it up!!! (BTW, you turned me on to the "Family Guy 'Where's my Money' clip years ago).....I have used it although Fox keeps pulling it off youtube.

Personally, I compared both Backdraft and SPF before finally buying the SPF.
Reason: the size of the backdraft didn't look right to me. Those extra couple of inches (added to the wheelbase and interior width) which neither my wife nor I needed. Quality of construction seemed to be comparable. BDR is definitely less $$$ to complete.
However, If you're a "big ole boy" and your passenger is also, then you'll appreciate the extra cabin room in the BDR.
On the LS7 portion of this thread - I have a 2007 Z06 with almost 100k miles on it , and I use it every day and couldn't be happier. I had heard of some rocker issues or valve issues that resulted in damaged engines and it was traced to a batch of parts.
As for SPF vs backdraft - my personal vote is SPF.

Checked out the SPF car again at the end of last week.....had more time to really be educated about the whole car. What a solid piece of machinery the SPF are!! Still hoping to check out the BDR car this weekend or next as a comparison. I Feel I owe it to myself to fully investigate both options.....seeing the BDR car equipped with the coyote will be a big win just on powertrain comparison alone. At this point leaning heavily on the SPF due to the condition of the car and the owner is a great guy and friend.
BTW, Steve (PANAVIA) who posted above you, while not a SPF dealer, is a wonderful resource for SPF's. I didn't even think about him and his business here in the SF Bay Area in my earlier responses. He's a busy guy, but he's posted about installing a 6-speed in his SPF Cobra and he may also have FI too. Not sure about that one.
Additionally, he has literally built from the ground up his SPF Daytona Coupe. He owns a business that caters to Cobra's and musclecars. And also has helped me with my Kirkham on a couple of occasions.
Ace, if you're going to sink your money into the Cobra world, buy used and get the big block engine. U need to experience old school, gasoline, carb car. Drive it for a year. Live with it. If it is a car u love, u will get another one, a better one.

The SPF I have been looking at is used with almost 11K miles. Hell a mild wipe down and about 60 seconds of vacuuming and it would like look a roller off the showroom. No big block but a 351 stroked to 427 Keith Craft street/strip motor I believe. I have learned with limited experience that if you can buy something you don't want to change it saves you an incredible amount of money as well. I think the only think I could possible see myself doing to this car is the addition of a wooden wheel. I like everything about the car.....the color, ride height, wheels, modified exhaust ect. I haven't seen another car that I liked as much at the same price level......being local and not having to travel or transport is an added bonus as well. Just all facts and figures that go into a decision. I'm pretty much over the mileage issue.....if the car has been reasonably driven and cared for which is seems this has the 10k miles isn't a deal breaker. I don't want one of these cars if 10K miles means one is trashed out

I think this one made 485-495HP at the wheels. Has been advertised as Keith Craft's 585hp 351 to 427 stroker dart block/Brodix head street/strip crate engine
