When getting geared up to build my car was going to use a 454 Chevy till a Ford guru convinced me the car would sell better with a Ford engine. Same guy convinced me to go with the 460. I have never built anything with resale in mind that by itself adds limitations.
Any well built project will sell despite all you hear from the naysayers.

True. There is an a$$ for every seat but if you want to do a Cobra replica correctly and stay true to what you are replicating there is no other way except 260, 289, 427 or 428 FE. Period.

Next.

You forgot 390, Flip Top, and the prototypes first done in England in something like 221 cubic inch engines? You know just to stay true.

I think that would pretty much go without saying, but my guess would be out of all the Cobra replicas on the road these days, the ones being absolutely true to what they are replicating probably don't amount to more than 5-10%.

The more I read these responses the less they mean because of who they come from. Single minded at it's extreme, thankfully we have the freedom to pursue our own paths.

Why do we spend so much time trying to convince each other who's ways of thinking are correct. We are still talking replicars.

To the politically correct I wouldn't expect my comments to mean anything. To the politically correct its all warm and fuzzy and free exchange of ideas and its "all wonderful" when right and wrong is black and white. Here it's black and white.

Political correctness is crap and is in large part responsible for where our country is today on more counts than you can shake a stick at. You can take your political correctness and ...well ..

Yes, by all means. Go down your own path and pursue it to the extreme. Pursuing the Chebby option for power in a car that is supposed to replicate a Shelby Cobra is certainly going down a path but its a path going the wrong direction.

Where does it stop. Might as well use a VW chassis. What about Pontiac power? Chrysler Hemi power? Yeah. That's cool. White walls. Very classy. Digital gauges, bucket seats with head rests. Its all good!

The idea of a "replicar" is to replicate last I checked. Otherwise it's not a replicar is it? Its a ???????? But hey, its your interpretation so it must be beautiful.

I really don't see where it's idiotic....

Political correctness has filled the US with a bunch of whiny babies...

And...

If you want a "kit car" that's one thing, but I agree that if you want a true replica of something, then it needs to replicate that object.

I am not disagreeing with that, but the rest of his comment assumes that just because people have a Cobra, we are all supposed to make it exactly like an original. By that theory, every 1941 Willy's should have a 6 popper and be riding on 4" bias ply tires.

If you want to make an exact replica or as close as possible, go for it. Nobody is saying anything against it, but if you like a Cobra and want to drive it and make it your own, do what you want. Who really cares? It isn't your car anyhow.

And yes you could go wrong. Why use old 1960 technology when so many newer things exist if you aren't trying to duplicate an original?
