Glen: I also really love that pic of Bondurant in the Mk I GT next to the Ferrari with both drivers looking at each other. Is there any way that could be made into a print poster size for framing? Who was the Ferrari driver?:)
Model Ferrari? |

Model Ferrari? No it's a real 1 ....oh, oh I see what you mean! It looks close to a 275P, but not exactly. It looks related to a 250LM, but it's not a variant of that. Looks related to a Dino 268SP, but it's not that either. I'll continue to look. It's listed in the race record as a Ferrari 250GT0 (3445)...but it sure isn't that. Driver is Picko Troberg (co-driver - Chris Amon), and they DNF'd. Cheers, Glen |

Are you guys talking about the Ferrari in post #44? It's an early 275P, isn't it?

Here's the same car, CSX2260, at Daytona in February 1964 (less than three months earlier). Drivers were Jo Schlesser and Jean Guichet. Note the earlier configuration roadster front fenders http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...ytona_1964.jpg Cheers, Glen |
Who did the aluminum work? In house?

Dayton, Spa 1964
Before I leave the Daytonas to rest for a while, here's another one of Mike Shoen's excellent shots of the Daytona. Location is Spa in 1964.
Can anybody put names to faces? http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...0/Spa_1964.jpg Edit with info from JP "Bondurant" "Jean Stucki in CS shirt looking at camera and Jack Hoare snacking with back turned." Cheers, Glen |
ha, is that one guy really sipping on a bottle of wine?
Thanks for posting these cool pics |
More Cobra Daytona pictures....
This is Rheims in 1964 (edit, thanks JP): http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...as_LM_1965.jpg Also LM, 1965, Dan Gurney and Allan Grant: edit, thanks JP "Jerry Grant was Gurney's co-driver in the #9 Coupe, however Allen Grant was driving a Coupe at LeMans as well with Jo Schlesser in the Ford of France entry." http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...ry_Grant_2.jpg This at Daytona in 1965. Three Cobra Daytonas and a GT350. Looks like the guy on the transporter is excited because the Daytona didn't fall off during loading....:D edit, thanks JP "Loaded Transporter - Is actually at the Shelby American Venice facility about to depart for Daytona. It may be John Morton behind the wheel of the last Coupe loading on the top deck after Allen Grant nearly dropped it off the ramps earlier." http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...ytona_1965.jpg Again, if anybody can furnish further detail, please add. Cheers, Glen |
Not a Shelby, but it's a vintage photo, and I like it.
It's Erwin Sommerhalder's Maserati at the 1959 Mitholz-Kandersteg hill climb. http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/...psl5tbjlt0.jpg There is actually a Shelby connection though, as Shelby raced a Birdcage and said this: "The best handling car I've ever driven. Easy to go fast, to corner, and does not seem to be working hard at top speed." Cheers, Glen |
But back to Shelby related cars....
Here's Jack Sears at Goodwood in a Willment Cobra. I am assuming that this is CS2131, after its rebuild with FIA rear hips and cutback doors after some Aussie crashed it. No oil cooler scoop though, so I'm not 100% certain it's CS2131. Any better ideas, anyone? http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...oodwood_TT.jpg Again, it's one of Mike's shots. Cheers, Glen |

Following on from post #44, here's another shot of #72
edit, thanks JP "Daytona 1965 - Looks like Ken Miles in the #73 GT and Richie Ginther is in the #72 GT" http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/data/500/GT40_11.JPG Cheers, Glen |
Sorry if this was already posted. I did go through the thread first. Dave MacDonald and Steve McQueen's car #2136. Some great pics though!;)

Thanks for posting these Glen!
I'll help with the captions... Spa 1964 - Jean Stucki in CS shirt looking at camera and Jack Hoare snacking with back turned. LeMans 1965 - Is actually Reims, France 1964. Gurney/Bondurant #15 Coupe. Both Coupes DNF'd. LM 1965 - Jerry Grant was Gurney's co-driver in the #9 Coupe, however Allen Grant was driving a Coupe at LeMans as well with Jo Schlesser in the Ford of France entry. Loaded Transporter - Is actually at the Shelby American Venice facility about to depart for Daytona. It may be John Morton behind the wheel of the last Coupe loading on the top deck after Allen Grant nearly dropped it off the ramps earlier. Last pic at Daytona 1965 - Looks like Ken Miles in the #73 GT and Richie Ginther is in the #72 GT. Cheers! JP |
