My linkage bracket that's mounted on the block is welded like yours but the one on the footbox is like the pic below...

It does have a nyloc! I guess it simply wasn't tight enough.

I did have an immediate karma refection, "This is what I get". But the guy was right on my ass! There was probably more danger in the tailgaiting than the stuck throttle because...
The throttle was stuck but I never said it was WOT. Goosing it enough to stop a BMW's pass is not a WOT move. I'm convinced that the linkage was tight, then slipped, then 'caught' again, to settle with the linkage at 3 o'clock. My foot wasn't really heavy but when the pedal resistance goes to zero, it's hard to step off at the exact moment.
