I love how you slip in a sales pitch for the MKII in your explanation and/or retraction of what Lance said in the article. Car sales people to the end!

And it's a very nice car, but one important feature is missing, and that's the aluminum body. But whatever.

I'm not buying what either you or Lance are shoveling. Sorry, but there would have to be a complete breakdown in communication between the Forbes writer and Lance for all those "factual errors" to get printed.

Nope, sorry, no "slack" from me. That nonsense is now in the public domain forever and newbies will read it as gospel. And for that, I'm sad. :(

Have you ever been interviewed for a print medium? I have been (and for an automotive enthusiast publication at that) and what was offered and what was printed differed. And that was to a journalist who is a "car guy"! Imagine with someone who does not begin to understand what is being said.

Was there some hyperbole offered? Likely. Was there out and out misinformation? Not likely as there are too man y like this forum ready to call out misinformation.

Superformance and the Forbes article.
 

I have owned a Superformance for a number of years...it is a VERY nicely built Cobra to very tight standards. The Superformance community is a tight knit group of folks who love their cars...be it a Cobra, GT40, Daytona Coupe, or whatever. In my opinion, we don't go around ragging on other manufacturers or drivers of other manufacturers, we just are proud our cars are built by folks who truly represent what CS brought to the public and to the track. Others have replicated this too, and so be it. Just be proud that these cars turn heads and turn wheels in the old fashioned way...power and drivability up the yingyang. As was stated above, Lance had no say in the final write and I am sure the writer is NOT an expert...maybe an enthusiast, but obviously not an expert. If you pull up next to me at a stop light in a Kirkham or a FF or any other Cobra, you will see a smile because we all speak the same language...better not miss a shift tho...if you know what I mean.

You can buy it, as an SPF dealer, and others here can buy it, but I'm not.

And yes, I have been interviewed in my life. It was in middle school....:LOL:

But just for the record here, ironically, on another thread, a CC member MHNCO (Mike from CO, a GT40 owner) is actually calling Kirkham's a blingee POS in his last post. Obviously, Kirkham owners don't care about his opinion, but not every SPF owner appreciates other manufacturers and is a "car guy."

All Cobra replicas are cool, in my eye. I don't understand the whole "my fake Cobra is better than your fake Cobra" thing. Even if there are different levels of quality of replicas, they are still all replicas!

If any of you have ever spoken to Lance in person, you already know he is a wealth of knowledge and puts out more information so fast that you can't possibly absorb it all in one sitting. I'm pretty sure he chews raw coffee beans because the liquefied stuff is too weak and to slow.

A few days ago I was privy to the same letter MkVI Rick probably saw, where Lance sent a note expressing his disbelief and unhappiness with the result of the printed article, and in Lance Stander's own words stated that the "....facts are incorrect and badly written..."

As fast as Lance Talks, I can clearly see the writer may have only took bits and pieces of what was said and mixed them together and called it a day. I've spoken to Lance enough and read enough of his past interviews to know that the "quotes" written in this particular article are NOTHING at all like or how Lance speaks. Not even remotely close. In fact I had to look back up to several times see who the writer was supposedly quoting. It didn't sound like any of the past interviews at all.

That said, it appears what is being disputed here is more of a difference of personal opinion involving personal emotions of their other brands. No surprise there. While no one has to "buy it" and you will believe what you will, at least you know that the other side is equally as disappointed, but not disappointed in Lance Stander.

Understand that Lance loves ALL of these cars, regardless of the make or Brand. He is a true car guy and yes, he does sell cars... but not in *that* way. He doesn't have to. He is as disappointed in the article as you all are. Probably more so. Take it for what you will.

It's a sad day in the most opportunistic country called the USA when people have the time to come on a forum and get butt hurt about a guy who has had an enormous impact on the cobra replica market. If you can't be happy for the article or the fact that our kit car hobby is getting publicity than you are an enormous asshole. I don't know Lance but Im glad to see someone having success with a positive story. The news is WAY too full of lazy ass entitled people these days so to see something positive is refreshing. I will now step off the soap ladder

I quickly grabbed a few sentences from the article:

However, the real difference is, yours is truly "opinion", whereas mine came from the source. Please understand, I'm not trying to convince you or anyone else of anything, other than what the facts are.

I suspect hearing any of the details or further facts from anyone here isn't going to mean much too you, so if getting to those facts are truly your motive you can call up Lance Stander yourself. He is always a pleasure to speak with and loves other brand owners just as much as his own.

I told him you may be calling so he would be glad to speak with you if he is in the office whenever you call. I didn't know who you were other than "Rod knock", so they will get you right through to Lance if you call (949) 900-1960. And then you can ask clarification on what you disbelieve, directly.

That certainly doesn't sound like Lance! He totally knows the difference between his SPF product and the Shelbys, both of which he sells.

I have been mis-quoted before in several articles in my business to the point that I just refused to do them anymore. In one case years ago, talking to the LA Business Journal reporter about the construction industry in LA. He assured me that I would see a draft of his article. Never happened.

I ended up fielding phone calls from many of my friends and friendly competitors when it came out saying "Bernica!...what the hell are you talking about!!!?". That was rough, I was pissed, and the last one I ever did.

As for someone like Lance or anyone for that matter that has taken a business and made it a success through hard work, passion and drive gets my respect. I don't care if you are selling cars or pencils!:cool:

And I'm not sure what these "facts" are that you're referring to. But you have offered opinions here, as has Mr. Stadler in the Forbes article. So, we all have opined on the topic being discussed.

There are some basic facts, such as Mr. Stadler owns Superformance and he makes and sells cars for a living. And his is the only company to sell licensed Shelby products like the Superformance. I can agree with those set of facts.

The other fact is that Mr. Stadler, according to you, is disappointed in the Forbes article. And on that fact, we can also agree.

I really like Superformance products, especially the MKII, GT40 and GS Corvette replicas, they're very good products. But to tell you the truth, between you, Rick and some others here, and the article, I've soured on the company.

Frequently, I get "Likes" and some positive PM's from people who don't post much, if ever, but otherwise, no one listens to me anyway. And I'm fine with that. :)

Bernica, the "fact" that someone has taken a business and made it a success through "hard work, passion and drive" will never automatically get my respect. And I'm sure they could care less about my respect.

I'm just a peon in this world, but the article as written, is, as Mr. Thomas has said, disappointing. Life goes on.

By the way, if you are truly interested in "accuracy", the name of the owner of Superformance is Mr. Stander.... not Stadler. Maybe you are mixing Lance Stander, owner of Superformance along with John Sadler, owner of SAFIR GT40, together.

However you are absolutely 100% correct that both you and Lance Stander agree upon and are BOTH deeply disappointed in the inaccuracies of the article.

As far as Durant, could care less. Just happy to have Luke back with the Lakers and start the rebuilding process.;):cool:

If you want to identify yourself with that title that is your business. I would be happy to meet up with fellow cobra owners but it will be over a drink and cars....it will not be spent arguing.
