I don't understand your issue with the "Shelbys as they are real (but not old, original, period, whatever) Shelbys.

Yes, most of us all drive a "replica" unless we have a '60s era car that originated at Thames Ditton. Different strokes and different degrees.

I guess I missed the memo where you were made arbiter of all things "Cobra"!

Well done Lance.

I was fortunate enough to meet Lance years ago in Costa Mesa when I visited his small factory agency.

He and his wife were very welcoming.:cool:

He offered to show me a Daytona he had just brought and I waited around to follow him to see it.

Lance rushed out the door on his cell phone and took off in his car a breakneck speed, I followed...**)

He had forgotten about me as he was obviously distracted. I followed him a speed down transit lanes, along freeways and just got through the gates at his gated house estate...:eek:

What a shock for him when he arrived home and I was behind him. Apologizing he took me in and then across the road to meet his Australian neighbour who was recovering from a tennis injury.

Yes that was years ago and at that time Lances passion was obvious.

Say Hi to him for me if you see him..:cool:

And for the record, I find your tone here with me insulting. That's the way it comes across to me, but for some reason, that really doesn't surprise me when people confuse facts and opinions. Calling your own opinions, facts, and other's opinions as "just opinions."

Beyond the inaccuracies of the article, and there were plenty IMO :LOL:, and the insulting tone in which I was addressed here by a representative of SPF, nope, I don't care.

Well if other manufacturers would put "replica" in their names, as in ERA Replica Automobiles, life would just be easier for everyone around.:p

You know the history here, but yes, I have a problem with the use of words "authentic", "genuine", "real", "original," etc. And replicas do NOT equal those 4+ words.

And we've discussed and argued this topic here since CC was started. And I believe Ned Scudder, the SAAC Registrar of CSX2000's/3000's had the same problem. But I don't want to start it again.

Yes, I have made up my mind. That doesn't mean that it could never change. BTW, why are you not the moderator for the GT40's SPF Forum anymore?

You can only be insulted if you want to be, but that was not the intention. But if you'd feel better with an apology, I surely can do that for you. It's no big deal. I apologize you felt insulted by my words or "tone" on the screen. But just to clarify one more of your inaccuracies, myself as a Superformance owner, and Rick as an independent Superformance dealer no more represent "Superformance" the company or the brand, than you do Kirkham or all Kirkham owners. This is not an insult, and I apologize if you thought it was.

I do know Lance as a very good friend and heard about this article before it arose and was hoping to just pass along some actual comments from the very person who gave the interview, not someone who just read it. Maybe someone was interested, I didn't know. That's all. My small addition stopped long before the ongoing debate of "what's real or not" and "what's a replica or not". I just never even thought about that as being of any interest to anyone.

Politics and we will leave it at that. I actually STILL am the "moderator" but there has been no need for moderation in the forum I am responsible for. That is big difference between the forums, GT40s.com has a very low signal to noise ratio and the goofball stuff stays in the Paddock forum.

As a newcomer here, I can't believe there is any debate over what a real Cobra is vs everything else. How can there be any confusion or dispute? In my warped mind, only 998 or so real Cobras were ever built. Everything else is a replica, a fake, a recreation, whatever term you prefer. If I'm wrong, please educate me.

Wow, saying you're not insulting me, then state you're clarifying more of my inaccuracies? In my view, it's not an inaccuracy to call you and Mr. Muck representatives, whether it's in writing or not or paid or not. And fail I see any other my inaccuracies, but for the misspelling of Mr. Stander's name. So please, I'd certainly appreciate it, if you would stop insulting me, even though you are when you say you're not.

Rick is an independent SPF dealer, but he doesn't represent the company? Come on. Just stop. Sorry, he must make representations on behalf the company and product because he sells it. And from my armchair here, it sure sounds like you're making representations on Mr. Stander's behalf, such as expressing his disappointment with the article. You talk to him regularly, as a friend, your privy to a letter to dealers, etc. Sure sounds like a representative to me.

I, OTOH, other than a few conversations and emails about the purchase of my car back in 2007, have never spoken to Mr. Kirkham or anyone at KMP, except for one or two customer service issues (bad gauge, starter switch, I can't remember, it was so long ago). Bit of a relationship difference in my mind.

Anyway, moving along. **)

We've discussed this real versus replica nonsense for forever. I would just refer you to the 100 or so other threads where we've beaten this horse to death. (MrMustang, please insert the dead horse being beaten cartoon).

It's only being brought up now, again, because of the article on Mr. Stander and SPF.
