Default Long overdue update......

Lots of time, certainly too much, has passed since my last update. I was trying to lay low and keep a low profile while I chugged in starts and stops toward finally getting this car done.

Well, the biggest hurdle has finally been overcome, at long last there's an engine in the garage ready to install. The car is at a local pro builder waiting for the engine and trans, which he'll pick up in two weeks and get it dropped in. From there, its finishing the electrical, plumb the pedal box to the brake lines, put the aluminum shrouding around the radiator and oil cooler, and install an interior, and a punch list of many small details, and it's finally done. He thinks I should be driving by September.

It seems like the roster of active posters here has changed over almost completely, but from you veterans who've been around a while, I wanted to just check in and let you know where it's at with the car. I get an occasional PM from some old friends asking about me and the car, and I certainly appreciate that. Car is getting done, and health is holding. Life is good right now. It's been a hell of a ride, but I'm still here kicking. Can't wait to finally drive this car. It's going to be a beast.

Many thanks to all as always.

Can't wait to see video proof

It's been a long time, but I'm glad you've stuck with it!

The car's not here Jeff - can't take any photos now. The car looks a lot like it did last time. All I have here at home right now is the engine. I can post a photo of that but I doubt that's what you want to see. It looks like any other FE I suppose.....

There about, Patrick. It's been far too long. There's been lots of hurdles to clear along the way. Life's been "interesting", to say the least.

Yup, it's been a long time, Doug, but I just couldn't give up on it. I've been through too much to give up on the car. I figured that the best sign of coming out the back side of things and moving forward would be the day I got to drive it. Now that the engine is here, that day is approaching. I just can't wait to drive it.

Another quick update for those who still may have interest. It's taking longer than I had hoped (of course) but progress still being made.

A very big bad FE is now installed in the car along with the trans, etc. Headers, etc are on. Electrical is about 80% done. The punch list is getting shorter, things remaining include hooking up the cooling and fuel systems, installing dash and finishing electrical, re-doing the terrible seat upholstery job that I paid an arm and a leg for way back when (he did a terrible job, using someone different this time), carpeting and door panels, build and install driveshaft, fill brake system and bleed, and many smaller jobs. I had hoped to have it done by September, but obviously that didn't happen. I think Spring completion is doable.

The beat goes on........

Edit - I tried to attach a photo as some had asked earlier. It attached sideways. I have no idea how to fix that or make it smaller. Sorry 'bout that.
