Food for thought or fuel for argument
From my (and probably only my) point of view, the potential respondents to this question fall into two distinct groups: Those who bought or built a Cobra that is true to the basic "original formula" in terms of owning a car that closely replicates the dimensions, ergonomics and basic drivetrain/chassis/suspension technology used in the the original cars; and those who have already changed the original formula at the get-go by buying or building a car that is an attempt to "improve" on the Cobra with amenities like longer wheelbases, bigger bodies with stretched cockpits, modern power plants and suspension systems, etc. Both groups will have valuable and interesting input into the discussion that gives real world insight into the ownership experience with the various brands and build types, albeit with differing starting points and frames of reference.

I'm quite content with my Backdraft....418 cu. in and a Tremec 5-speed. The car is exactly what I wanted when I purchased it and in excellent condition. Only have one issue that I sort of remedied and that is the side pipes are "slip-on" not flanged. Just don't feel like spending the bucks for new pipes or, having flanges welded on.... Maybe someday I'll find a really good deal on some takeoffs.

Not a thing, well maybe I should have built it with an IRS but I'm completely satisfied. I tried to replicate it to the best of my ability.

Well for me I would say I would change my driving habits. Less showing off and slowing down a little. Now that I have the car and want to keep the car for a while. but that's just me.

Ha ha, Karl road rash is for younger fellows such as yourself. At the end of this month I will officially become an octogenarian. I've had my fill of spirited drives without an accident, so why push my luck. Now I'm content to take her out for a short 25-35 mi. run.

John O...good on you! I am ONLY 73 and sure hoping that I'll still be driving and enjoying my little roller skate when I catch up to you. Two years ago I went from Mesa AZ to Moab UT, Twin Falls ID, Kallisbell MT, Calgary and Banff in Canada and back down along the border to Vancouver, then down along the coast all the way to Moro Bay CA before heading back across the desert to home. 19 days, 5600 miles and SO much fun. Hoping to get up to Saskatoon this summer, if I can get in and out of Canada. Happy Trails, you've got a beautiful car.

I'd change out the 4.11 gear for a 3.54 like most Kirkhams have. First gear is pretty much useless with a 482 motor. Fifth gear on the road is fine even with the 4.11 rear.
I'd still like a pure street version of a 289 or 427 Cobra, no sidepipes, no roll bar and no hood scoop with a mid range power engine.

While you're there, check out Saskatoon berry jam and, better yet, Saskatoon Berry Pie.
IIRC, Saskatoon Cruise Weekend is typically held around the middle of August. It was cancelled in 2020 and it looks like the 2021 dates are Friday, August 20 to Sunday, August 22.

I'm a bit late to this conversation. In fact I'm a bit late to this forum. I stopped dropping by about five years ago after I sold my E-M Cobra.
