I'm not a green weenie but...

The chemicals and metals in chrome plating are seriously nasty to the environment, people and the equipment involved in the process. Spent years in manufacturing and have seen lots of issues.

The management of the hazardous waste has gotten very expensive. Looked at the price of getting anything chromed lately?
