Latest recognition? Last month we won a trophy that says: "ALBERTA'S FASTEST STREET CAR", 2003. Not our best ET's ever but a nice improvement from crashing!

I was out in the garage today crawling over, under, and around the Cobra. I was actually finalizing the installation of the seat belts when a young girl about 10 or 11 with her Mother approached me from the sidewalk as they walked up the driveway. The young girl was selling cookies, candy and other assorted sweetsfor some school related program. Before I could get out the fact that I really didn't want any (my wife had just brought out a plate of Chocolate Chip Cookies and a glass of milk) The mother walked quikly the final steps separating her from the car. "BOY THAT'S A REAL NICE CAR THERE" what year is it? I replied "Well it's a kit car but styled after a 64 or 65 model". She started asking some questions about the motor. Right about then the timid little girl meekly began to ask again if I wanted to purchase some of her merchandise, and the mother cut her off in mid sentance "What are you doing to it? asked the mother." Just trying to complete it, it's been off the road 6 years." "SIX YEARS! that's a long time. Well come on honey he already has cookies over there" (pointing). "THAT SURE IS A NICE CAR." All happened in about 1 1/2 minutes.

Didn't get to say no thanks.

Wasn't recognition of my cobra but of lots of cobras at this years Fling. For those who don't know London, OH is about 15-18miles west of Columbus and the hotels where most stayed. After both Events in London, on the interstatein the afternoon (Iwas driving a rental car)there would be cobras 1's,2's 3's and more heading east to the hotels, remember there were close to 290 of them, anyway it was funny to see a few go buy then see other cars pull out to chase them to get another look. One family I had been following in a mini van w/dad,mom, and two teenage boys who had been cruising along in the left lane suddenly took off after a group of about 10-15 cobras had passed us--looked like they were scrambling in bags for cameras, also to hear the big-rig truckers blow their airhorns as they were passed by the line of snakes---
Pretty cool recognition when normally sedate drivers take off trying to catch another look at a Cobra

The best recognition that I have gotten lately would be a couple of weeks ago, I had 2 car shows in 1 weekend. In the 1st show I took one of 3 best of show trophy's over a (Real) continuation series Shelby . He did get a participation award . The next day, I took 1st place in the judged Shelby division of a major Ford show over some really nice replicas and inluding a REAL 289 Cobra. This to me was the ultimate compliment.

flipper35 11-17-2003 01:03 PM

Saturday was my latest and by far the shortest. I stopped at 7/11 to get a coke and one of the customers at the counter asked:
"Is it a replica"?
I said "yep"
and he said "OK".

I had thought of a couple sart aleck remarks like "the Mopar Performance sticker give it away?" but he was polite enough so I figured I would be too.

Some guy yelled out the window of his Expedition "Hey, nice Shelby!" I said "phuck you, it's an ERA". Ok, only the first part of that story is true:)

Can't a kid just dream for 2 Minutes?

This weekend I met some friends in Dallas at 'Dave and Busters' for lunch. I had parked the Cobra and was waiting by the front door for my friends to finish parking.
Serveral kids where on their way in to D & B for a birthday party when a couple of the 8 to 10 year olds made a diversion over to look at my car. The kid's mom calls for them to hurry up! One of the kids hollars back "Aw Mom, Can't a kid just dream for 2 Minutes?"

Edley Rondinone 12-03-2003 08:45 PM

Cruisin' on the freeway this morning, doing about 75-80 MPH, when I notice a CHP cruiser (sans light bar!) in my rear view! Knew he had me for 10 MPH over the limit, so I SLOWLY slowed down to a legal 65-70. The CHP slowly cruised past me on the left, looked over at me, and gave me a THUMBS UP!!! He then sped up to places unknown. I passed him a few minutes later; he had pulled a "ricer" over, and had his ticket book in hand!

BLACKJACK 12-04-2003 06:04 AM

EDLEY,

I'M CONVINCED THAT THE REASON WE GET AWAY WITH SUCH LARCENY IN OUR COBRAS IS BECAUSE WE ARE JUST SO MUCH BETTER LOOKING THAN THOSE "RICER DRIVERS".

HEY, APPEARANCE (LIKE SPELLING) COUNTS !!

Y'ALL HAVE A REALLY GREAT DAY.

BLACKJACK

Last weekend a guy in a Corvette gave me the thumbs up and said nice Shelby.

Of course both parts of his story are true, he couldn't legitimately claim to be driving an ERA:p

Evan- What happened to you on the Thanksgiving cruise? We were looking for you.

REAL 1 12-04-2003 09:36 AM

rdorman: No I couldn't.

Mike: Too much wine and turkey from the night before. :JEKYLHYDE

rdorman 12-04-2003 09:39 AM

Tell me about the wine and Turkey thing. I didn't think I was going to move for a week. Only the next more to get up and do it all again. The couch was calling me all day.
Rick
